My little collection

Confession time, I never really got Panerai !!! Here in the U.K. generally they are a fairly rare sight, certainly out in the sticks where I live.

Much more loved and dare I say common throughout Europe and the big cities, I’ve certainly seen plenty whilst holidaying in various locations.

Indeed in my 20’s I owned a few genuine ones (88 GMT & 90 Power Reserve), but they never seem to stick in any collection of mine. I was always a Rolex man.

So like an alcoholic in denial at an AA meeting, I finally succumbed to my desires and I can now say I’m officially Panerai obsessed. Obsessed by the watches and also the strap options that accompany them.

So a little over a month after I posted a want to buy ad for anybody and everybody to sell me a Panerai, I have what I like think is a great starter collection. Nothing by some of your standards and collections but a great rolling start.

Most will probably hang around in my collection for the foreseeable future.

So onto a few pictures

So there you have it, the start of what I hope will be an amazing collection.....

Congratulations M,

They all look gorgeous, for different reasons, and just goes to show what a different strap (be it the material or colour choice) can do to the overall presentation of the watch.

Not to mention the blue dials you have there which really stand out. You seem to have covered off most combos so well wear Sir & enjoy

Ps if a starter collection is 10, this is gonna be a very expensive hobby

I think I saw your 088 in the wtistshots thread the other day, but show it better here, it's interesting to look at the DSN.

Some nice recent pickups there too. How does the Mays grey 74 look on the 605? I've been eyeing that strap for that model myself but every time I try to match grey/anthricite, it never works out. Lol.

I think this is what happens with many collectors:
first you see a PAM and think "meh :/"
then you see more and start to think "what's so special about it?"
Finally you try one and eventually succumb to the madness

Very nice. I remember when I got into reps about 3 years ago I could not understand the Panerai fans, now I got it and there is no escaping it

I love it I must admit, suits it perfectly

It just so happens that I have the same wrist size as the previous owner so it’s perfectly sized and worn in for me

Haha it’s like a disease, I,ve had a few over the last 14 months or so as I learnt the rep scene but they never stuck, then I bought the Noob 111 and that kinda changed it for me, that and the constant barrage in the eye candy section lol
