I've been drooling over a JM Daytona in Yellow Gold with that snazzy green dial for quite some time now. However, I've faced a relentless battle with the existing replica dials; none of them quite hit the mark. This includes the SW dial, which sadly, doesn't make the cut. CF comes close to the genuine article, especially with their latest iterations, but alas, it's still not perfect for a discerning AD client like myself. The main gripe? The subdials on the reps lack the boldness of the genuine ones—on the real McCoy, those outer subdials are like pop stars under stage lights; they really stand out in varied lighting conditions.

But lo and behold, after months of hunting high and low, I struck gold! I discovered a manufacturer in Barcelona crafting dials that meet the genuine specifications for this elusive model. They charge a cool 695 euros, and it's all made to order. Now, as I stand at the crossroads of decision-making in the early stages of this build, I'm juggling options on which base model to use. In one corner, I have a pristine, new old stock Noob—practically a legend among reps. And in the other, the CF version beckons. I've also toyed with the idea of the QF gain weight version, though I'm not completely sold on its movement. Perhaps a Frankenstein move is in order? Procure the QF and transplant the Noob's heart into it? Decisions, decisions!

I'll post more updates as I go along.

Whats their QC process? Curious as to what this project will look like after assembly, good luck on your build!

He will send me the QC pics once it's completed. And I'll share them here.

Does anyone thing that I need to update this bezel? It's a noob standard. I was going to change it to a CF. Would be interested in anyones general feedback.

TBH, it looks superb to me (y)

That said I do have a very error tolerant threshold regarding Reps, so I would be very interested to see the comments with reasons of others more knowledgeable than me.
That's how I learn ;)

You should get a clean base for any PM build.
The bezel, the bracelet, the thickness of the case, the lugs, the end links, the clasp, everything will be better in clean.

The dials from JJ are top notch, I have and had many of them myself.

Great Guy, insane quality for good prices.

Call me crazy, but this is what I have decided to do .....

I just acquired locally a SWF weighted version of this model. It has SWF dial and hands and deep crystal.

So, what I'm thinking is to have the movement swapped over from my noob SA4130 to this SWF model. Install the new custom dial as well as a new CF bezel, then have it replated by nikz19.

Then the final product would have the following mods:
*SWF Gain Weight base (180g approx)
*Noob SA4130 movement
*Custom Dial from JJ
*SWF Hands
*Deep Crystal
*CF Bezel
*Replating 18K YG from Nikz19

Then I'll sell the Noob V4 that I currently have with the following Specs:
*Noob case and Bracelet
*SH4130 movement
*SWF Dial
*Deep Crystal

I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I think in the end I'll be happy with it.

Keen to hear thoughts, criticisms :giggle: Its all good.

/\ /\ /\ That there is the most important thing (y)

From what you say that sounds like it will be a real nice build. The nuts of it is, it's what you want to do !!

Keen to hear thoughts, criticisms :giggle: Its all good.

Feck the criticism noise.
I am no expert, I've learned a lot from these hallowed pages, and also I have a high tolerance for things that aren't quite "GEN correct", I buy watches because I like them, not to please everyone else. That said there is a big difference between criticism and helpful advice :)

A lifetime of building one off cars has taught me that the critiques are usually the "no nuffinks" anyway, who read it on xyz forum.
Some of my cars have. for what it's worth, won trophies at shows, motorsport events etc etc.

I wish you all the luck and success with this, keep us updated as the build progresses ;)

Drop in clean hands and you're good to go.

But:
I'd prefer the clean non gain weight and more beautiful case and bracelet over the SWF if I were you.

Rest sounds like a good plan.

That there is what I meant about helpful advice, and @Storm. definitely knows his way around a Daytona, my view is when building anything, I'm never happy if I haven't done it to my utmost best even despite extra cost ;)

JJ have offered me a set of hands complimentary as part of the replacement dial. It'll be interesting to see how these compare to CF.
