Nabbed this over at rwg.cc-

http://www.rwg.cc/topic/147234-panerai-177l-omega-smp-rolex-submariner/

Not only does it look nice in person, it had a very shiny/pretty ETA 2824-2 for a heart (pic of movement to come later).

Next to my 2220.80 gen-

The bracelet feels buttery smooth, the only bummer is that spare links are held in place with screws (that I initially thought were split pins). Overall I am quite happy with this one. Look for my earlier SMP Bond Gun Barrel, and GMT purchases to hit the ads, running out of room in the watch box and want to keep things under control.....

Nice deal with an ETA inside...>>

I grabbed this one a couple of years ago for $40.(the movement was jammed by the second hand hitting the crystal)A five minute fix...
Has an Asian movement, but on a GMT configuration they are often preferable to "rigged up" ETA's
Has been running fine since!!

Nice grab.

Since you also own a gen. Could you compare the bezel colours? I always feel that in pictures none of the reps have the correct bezel colour

The insert on the gen appears to be just a little more blue than the rep-

Congrats! What a great watch. I sold my SMP 21j a while ago. I always wanted a 2824 movement, but the crown guards on the 2824 cases are a dead giveaway. The 2nd biggest giveaway is the size of the hour hand. This would be a great franken watch, if you wanted to manually modify the crown guards, install gen hands and dial. Otherwise, enjoy!

This is the next best SMP next to the Closed Factory. I used the same watch on my 007 franken build a few months ago.

Great catch indeed. That seller had no idea what he was GIVING away :) AND it's a gen ETA...lol congrats

I got use to the HE valve location and cg's, the only thing that did bother me was the lack of AR on the crystal.

I'll have to think really long and hard on whether or not to work this one over. I would love to have the crown guards modified, but that is just one task I don't want to try myself. Everything else would be a piece of cake.

I wonder if my gen He valve will fit on this without too much effort....

Movement pics-

Anyone notice something a little odd/out of the ordinary here (and not the obvious decal)?

One retaining screw is missing?

One retaining screw is missing?

Close

It's there, it is just holding in the movement retainer in the same manner (barely) as the one on the other side (and the retainer on the other side is actually sitting inside of where the He valve tube is).

It appears that they were just a leetle beet too short so the individual assembling the watch improvised.
