My first PAM is here - Questions

I just received my first PAM rep, the Asian movement 111H. This is my first replica and I must say I am impressed with the overall fit and finish.

I do have a concern about the crown guard.... If I'm not mistaken, the 111H is supposed to have a brushed crown guard, not polished.....My watch has a polished cg.....Also, on the other pics I've seen of the 111H, there is a pronounced circular indentation, it may even be a functional screw, on the top and bottom of the crown guard....My watch has a very lightly stamped, faux indentation. (See Pics - I'm not sure I'm describing this correctly)

It appears as though the factory ran out of the brushed crown guards and installed a cheaper, innacurate version on my watch....Like I said, everything else on the watch is impressive...

Please take a look at these quick pics I took and let me know your opinion and maybe some advice on how to proceed.

A Dealer Pic (EDIT: BTW, this is not the Dealer I got the watch from...Just a front view to compare)

That should be a pin that hold the lever in place. What does it look like from the other side??

I hate it when it looks like an indent. Look at the GENs and it's a perfect flush fit/finish.

From the other side, the indent is even slighter if you can believe it! Definitely not a pin.

I don't want to reveal the dealer at this time since I haven't even contacted them about this....Just looking to gather opinions and advice before I proceed.....

Eventually, when all is resolved, I will write a full Dealer Review.

Thanks...

Is the Crown Guard easy to replace?....It looks to be simply screwed in to the case.

Sorry to hear about that on your very first purchase no less. I do believe that the dealer will make it right though, it just may take longer than you expected to have your watch on your wrist :?

If it wasn't a RWI dealer, I don't know if anyone can really suggest any meaningful recommendations. However, if I were you, I'd contact the dealer and express your concern and request a brushed crownguard and a screwdriver to put it on yourself. If they say "no" then let them know that you will have to write a review to respond to the inconsistency between the dealer's sale pic and your actual watch, and the inaction from the dealer's part in regards to customer service.

If they're serious about future sales, a bad review at RWI, RWG, TRC, etc. carries a lot of stigma.

Key thing is to remember that we're purchasing reps. No matter how much we spend, reps are reps... it's a shady business; but we get lucky with some good solid dealers who come through for members, which is a lucky previlige, not a right. If we want "rights", we should just fork over $4~5K+ and get gens from AD with certificates.

G'luck tho'!

Thanks dawg and drfcfighter

The dealer I got the watch from is an RWI dealer and is also very well known for customer service so I'll contact him and let everyone know how it goes from here.

Hi Enzo,

Thanks for the clarification....The watch I purchased was advertised as a 111H from one of the highest ranking dealers out there....I researched dozens of reviews before I made my decision....Basically, the crown guard does not match what was in the dealer's pictures, advertised as a 111H clearly showing a brushed crown guard.

I have contacted the dealer in question and have requested the proper, brushed crown guard...That is why I haven't revealed the dealer or written a review....I don't want to indict someone without giving them a chance to make good.

you aren't as that's a pin as well. The CG and pin have simply been sanded flush, nothing more. This is NOT an H CG it's older, it's not inferior, it's incorrect.

If this were an older 111 with an older movement, it would be correct. If this was sold as a 111H that is the issue at hand primarily. Because it's not an H ....

With REPs this is a common error and why we look at details. Because REPs are often made up out of older bits and pieces and this is something they don't do in GENworld.

Consideration would be how this watch was advertised. If it showed pix of a proper 111H and claimed to be a 111H or you just missed the details when you bought it ... worse yet assumed it was what you expected it to be. Before we see a Bad Dealer review, there is the consideration that you didn't do all the homework, (not blaming here, this is commonplace when you step into the hobby.)

Too often we are quick to blame the Dealer for our own lack of knowledge.

If a Dealer sells a REP with a cannon pin reccess clearly pictured, how is it that the buyer can complain about such a detail? After all it was in the photo of the item for sale ...

If this watch was sold as a 111H - then the blame shifts. However, if it was touted as a 111H and had that polished CG in the picture, I'd then say Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware

Concurred

Most likely, you'll get the correct CG; it's just not that big of a deal. Good luck tho'! :D Keep us updated!

Initially, Andrew claimed that all current versions of the 111H come with a polished CG.  :x Consider that before I ordered the watch, I specifically asked him if the current batch was looking like the pictures on his website (with brushed CG)...of course before the sale, he answered: Yes, they are from the same maker  ....and then sent me the POS you see in this thread.

I had to email back expressing my dissatisfaction with his deceptive answer, after which he relented to send me a new, correct watch before I sent him back the faulty 111H....That is why I ended up leaving a good review, albeit with reservations....

I guess these are just some of the little lies we have to deal with in the rep business. :?
