My first own rep experience

Hi.
I wanted 2 share my first experience of purchasing a rep online.
(I have bought "premium reps" watches in Thailand before on holiday, but this is better)

I hope you won't spank me too much for making all the beginners misstakes,
I've tried to have the right expectations so I won't be a person that no one wants to deal with. I think that is a VERY important part in doing bussiness: The right expectations.
I'm not very picky about details though about beeing exact rep of a PAM 048/47/111 or whatever but to have a finish of a gen watch.
That was my goal, finding a nice looking watch that matches my other accessories. I'm learning and it's fun so far and perhaps I will try to match the gens more in my next purchases.

My best friend is and rep collector and recommended this forum.
He have purchased 3 watches from Watch Eden so I thought I'd give it a try.

But back to my current deal:

  • I'm VERY satisfied with the overall finish.
  • I'm VERY satisfied wth the feeling and weight of the watch.
  • I've compared the watch with a LOT of watches online and I think it looks like a gen.
  • A LOT of gen shops online confuses the 048 with the 049. The main difference is the 048 has a 9 marker, the 050 has not.
  • The bad thing though....
The strap is SHOOOOORT! It's almost too small, even for my wife.
I am quite thin and weights 78kg and is 180cm.
I payed $128 but rather have payed $148 if I had 3cm more strap.
The watch is almost not usable at all because of this. The easy answer is to buy a new strap... but I can't understand why they make it kids' size.
  • What should I do? Accept it, ask for a longer strap, return it...?
The last pic shows the strap length when at the wrist as in the first pic.
Please give me input on my thoughts/pics =)

Don't worry about the strap - rep straps almost always stink. Besides, now you get to join what appears to be the best part of the hobby for PAM lovers - the straps...oh how they love their straps!
You're also going to need a bunch of accessories with submarines on them. Oh...and don't forget the gorgeous wooden boxes to hold all your Panerai paraphernalia.
Christ I almost forgot about the buckles...get yourself a $hitload of buckles - polished, brushed, titanium, etc.

Bascially, just keep checking these 2 forums every 30-45 minutes so you don't miss anything:

P.S. - this may be my best post ever ;)

The rep straps are junk anyways. Just buy a nice strap separately.

BTW how is the magnifying glass over the date window, does it magnify at all?
