My Davidsen 177H has a crooked crown!

I just got a Davidsen 177H (used from another member). Oddly, the crown appears to be mounted crooked. It sits at about a 30 degree angle from the case. See the photos below.

Anyone know what's causing this? Could the stem be bent, or is it a sign of a more serous problem???

It looks bent. I would remove it, very carfully, and verify that it is, then I would contact the seller. It's not a sever as a 30° angle, but it's not right for sure.

Is it bent or does it wobble? Davidsen mounts his on a spring loaded system supposedly similar to the gen. I have a few where they wobble--but not because it's bent, the springloaded part makes it pressback on CG lever and aid in watertight seal from what I understand.

Wow, that's a bummer. Did you see pictures of it before you bought it. I wouldn't accept that.

looks like a standard Davidsen to me when closed. Check his section and email Davidsen.

jj..i had the wobble and the stem was bent and i fixed it...unless you got a real sweet deal on this i'd send it back or get some $ back to cover a new stem/crown install, esp if it was not disclosed prior to the sale...not cool at all...let us know how it pans out for you

Just to clarify, my stem doesn't wobble. It's always at the angle shown in the photos. Even when I wind it, it stays at that angle.

Tell me more about this spring Davidsen uses. Is it possible that only the spring is defective? Are these springs readily available, or can you only get them from Davidsen?

I did get a very sweet deal on it BTW. I knew there were some scraches and nicks on the inside of the crown guard (as shown in my pics), but I didn't notice the crooked crown.

I have it on all three of my 201A's from Davdisen (I have all three versions)_ Hard to describe. It's best to email him . He's a great guy and will explain to yopu. Or maybe Tootall or Hooligan or Babloa can chime in?

Do you mean this is normal? Or, do you mean this happened on your 201A's and Davidsen told you how to fix it?

I know what CISO is trying to say, but it should certainly be less pronounced than your pics, IMO. My PVD MM20 from DSN was a *tad* crooked when the lever was open, but much less than that. MUCH less. I think what you need to do is send that watch off to a watchsmith and get a proper diagnosis of the problem, then you can move forward with some sort of negotiation with the seller, once you've got the facts in hand. It would probably be better to use vaccum, flav, ziggy or the likes, so that your seller will be assured that you're not using "home town" watchsmith that's doing you a favor by exaggerating the problems.
