I am only here a few weeks and the watch/strap bug has infested my whole everyday life.
And the best of all: I LOVE IT

Here is my first ever rep I got about a week ago and the decided to start making my own straps (even if it came on a quite nice basball glove type).
Where I live (Nicaragua) there are no ADs worth mentioning and so you have to get crafty...
Thanks for having me and the endless flow of information.

Great looking watch and strap! i saw your earlier posting on getting started with straps and you have quite a talent. Are you planning on eventually making any to sell on RWI?

Thank you guys for the warm welcome.
I just started so I want to take a bit more time to work out the kinks, but yes - over the weekend - the idea to do this a bit more professional was born.
Many many years ago when I was in my early twenties I was actually working in the leather business, but on the sales part of it, and had access to the workshops of some of the best Italian leather workers.
Then I didn't really see the beauty in the detail - today I wish I would have looked at it with more interest.
All in all now I really enjoy hunting down a good hide on the markets.
I live in Nicaragua and therefore have access to some great exotic materials, which I will showcase soon.
And since I visit the US very regularly shipping CONUS or otherwise Internationally should be easy.
Here is a first try for a logo for the new enterprise (I guess you can see that I am a sandwich dial fan):

I will hopefully post some new versions within the next week.

Thanks for having me in this community

What leathers will be available for your new strap?

That leather looks nice.

I have the following types which I already have bought:
A) thick (5mm), but soft leather (like used on the gentle giant model)
gentlegiant1.jpg

B) tan (4mm), beautiful grain (first model should be ready this weekend)

C) chestnut (4mm) nice but needs a little breaking in ( I am currently experimenting with cow fat and it seems to be working really well to soften leather) like is used for the machete model

D) Boa (darker tone, but very smooth) used here on the serpente 1.0

E) Cascabel (type of rattlesnake) to me the most amazing as used on the serpente 2.0

F) Just got a little piece of alligator (the armpit so to say) which has a very beasty look and I will try something that looks vintage with this one. (it's the pice on the background)

I am still waiting for a whole gator to do a nice hornback strap (hopefully next week)
I will hopefully post pics of some new prototypes over the weekend...
