I picked up my first Panerai, a 564 w/A-6497/P-5000. I notice the entire movement shifts in the case. Maybe 1mm back and forth. The TD says not to worry if it is keeping good time.

I'm curious about long-term impact to the movement's performance.

thanks

Movement securing screws are loose or missing, simple job to tighten if you feel competent, or get your rep friendly watch smith to fix, easy job. Less so if they are missing.
Of course, if they are loose in the case, you might have a issue at some point

Thanks, the local wasn't around and the next in line didn't want to open it. I'm not sure if screws are missing or just loose, I need a better screwdriver. I took pics too and will post.

Looks like the glue on dress-up plates are loose, the movement itself doesn't appear to be moving in your excellent vid!

haha, easy fix for me. I just slid a folded paper between the movement and the case and it's holding it solid. Happened to my 005 , 416 too, i swear the movement holder/screws/watch dial were in place but one side just tend to slide. The paper trick fixed it nonetheless.

So no missing screws need to be replaced? I need to read up on this...the paper sounds good but the movement cover is transparent...

Could I slide paper under the top dress plate? Is this what you mean?

thanks

No. I slide a paper at the side(between the side casing and the movement)for my case, 9 oclock was slanting/moving around so i just put a paper in between the movement and casing at 9 oclock)

It's just the dress plates, maybe I can drop some gel super-glue into one of the dress plate holes...
