Does 28.8k mean 28.8k ticks per hour or is it tick's and tocks? Ie is one second divided into 8 segments or into 16?

The 2 reps I have are 28.8k bph if I buy a 21,000 movement will I see a difference is it noticeable to the human eye?

When referring to asian movements I hear the terms low beat and high beat. Is the low beat 21k and high 28k.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What's a tock? 28.8 means the second hand vibrates or if you muxt use the term ticks 8 times every second. a 21.6 will vibrate 6 times. You can count it but many can't tell. Especially on the wrist.

Thanks Fakemaster. Is 'tick tock' not a normal term in America. Thats the noise all clocks/watches make in England.

Each swing of the balance (in one direction) releases one tooth of the escape wheel and thus moves the entire movement (including seconds hand) one "increment." The terms half-swing and swing are sometimes used interchangeably. Full-swing means from rest to fully counterclockwise, to fully clockwise and then back to rest. Beats per hour always refers to half-swings (or swings), so that an 28,800 bph watch is making 14,400 full swings per hour.

You need to read this thread: http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/ ... hp?t=15453

You will see a slight noticeable difference 21,600 and 28,800pbh, I dont consider one to be inferior to the other... Omega uses 25,500bph on many watches, Rolex 28,800bph and Zenith uses 36,600bph.. so everyone who looks down at a 21,600 because they have a 28K I look down on your 28,800 because of the availability of the 36K ... and that just does not make sense when you put it in that perspective does it. Also dont forget to ask which will need servicing more frequently... a 28,800bph or 21,600bph

it is simple mathematics 5th grade
60 min x 60 sec = 1 hour or 3600 sec
3600 sec x 8 = ?

Now we need to solve the question, what is 28.800 bph?

This is now the final 1.000.000 dollar question!
