Hi all,
I need some help as one of my favourite beaters has an issue with time keeping...my noob 177 loses at some time about 5 minutes an hour, sometimes one hour in an hour and so on. I wound it fully but once it rejected to move on after five hours...
do I have to get a new movement, or is there a chance to get it repaired for a good price?

thanks for any help....I am no watchmaker...I just love em...

Sounds like something is loose inside and is stopping the watch intermittently. I had an old seiko that did this I opened it up and omg there was a v dead n v dried up ant rolling around in the movement..... An easy fix. And how did it get there? Watch is nearly 40 years old and had sat in a drawer in the Far East with no stem and no crown for some time. Pop your case back off and have a look inside. [emoji3]

Your movement needs a service, as above there's maybe something inside it that came loose and is causing the issue. Unless you dropped the watch it is unlikely that something broke inside it, but should this be the case almost every part of the movement can be swapped with its swiss counterpart. Installing a new movement would be my last option as 177 has an open CB and Panerai engraved movement are not as easy to find as standard ones and are more expensive than fixing it.
