Hi all
I just got my cas set from Silix and found that the movement and dial does not fit in the ew case.
The old case was thicker and the movment and dial fit fine in the case with the plastic movement holder.
The dial and movemtn even without the movement holder wont fit, the weight for the auto wind hits the back of the case.

Question of the day is where and from whom could I get the thinner movement for these watches and if there is an ETA equivalent what would it be>? Im starting to think I should have bought a whole new watch but the dial was just orange lumed from Everest and I really want to keep that.
SO
HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!(and I rarely say please) anyone ??????? :(

Vince,

I feel for your pain, look at this.

viewtopic.php?f=59&t=34618

I posted this at the end of last year and haven't had any luck. These mechanisms look like special builds particularly for this case. They are a copy of the ETA 2892-2 and are 3.6mm thick. The nearest I have found is this one at Cousins -

http://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/4/40/1921.aspx

But it's slightly more than 1mm thicker which is no good. It will work but the rotor won't spin, so you have to wind the watch!!

I bought your powder coated accident specifically because I wanted the mechansism and thought it was this thinner one....it wasn't.

My only hope at the moment is I am asking Trevor who I bought the original one from to try and source me another, but in 3 months it's been a no show.

I'm going to give it another few months and then I'm going to take the hit and buy a brand new one - just so I can use my Ziggy dial.

It makes me so exasperated with the brand I almost want to walk away. I've not had any other trouble with any other rep.

I wish I could be of more help, but I am 99.9% sure you won't find this mechanism anywhere to buy. Best bet is to ask Silix or another dealer.

Send me your email and I will forward you some pictures of the mechanism with measurements - these will be useful to send to the dealers and were taken from my dead one.

Did you manage to measure the crystal size of the BR01-92 and send those lug screws yet? Thanks for doing that.

Regards,

Tom.

ofrei has the 3.6mm deep 2892

lol
prob more than you are willing to spend though

could just live with manual wind

or shave the rotor?

not sure if you're trying to just make it work, or have something decent

I've actually got a genuine ETA 2892-2, so I'm going to give it a try this week. I'm betting that the stem and hands are going to be an issue though.....

I sent the lugs a week and a half ago. I still have to measure the crystal ( forgot to sorry) for you. I already asked Silix and he said he could help me out. I m not sure if I want to chance fitting an ETA 2892 A2 and if it does not fit I guess Im stuck with it or selling it to another member or fleabay sale.

I need to research the measurements when i get some time on Thursday and see how it pans out. If I can get an ETA in there surely I will opt for the ETA The hand sizes might be an issue but it seems to be standard size like the ETA 2824 2836.

I think i've seen the problem with the genuine ETA. The stem release button seems to be in a different place so once that stem goes in, you won't be able to get it out through the hole in the case.

If you do strike gold with Silix, can you let me know? I'd defintely get one as Trevor is having trouble I think.

Vince,

I've PM'd you these images and more - hope they help. Here they are for anyone else in this predicament, as I imagine it's not just the two of us. This is the mechanism found in Andrews, Josh's, Trevors and I imagine most dealers BR01-92. It looks like most 21J chinese mechanisms but is about 1mm thinner than the thinnest ones available at Ofrei and Cousins.

Hey all
Just was tooling on the bench and took some pics of the now naked BR 01-92 case that was modified in the banck to accept the proper size screws. Waiting on a movement from Silix to finish this puppy and wishing I never started in the first place!!!

The upper corner the bit walked on the press and band a scratch /small nick but hardly hoticable whentouched up and will dissapear when PVD's these screws are the actual proper size and finis the caseback well. Not sure whi I do this it's not like i wear the watch inside out. But none the less a nice touch closer to 1:1
Enjoy

The nearest Cousins and Ofrei do is the DG4813 which is about $26. It will shoe in but you've essentially got to handwind the bloody thing as the rotor won't spin. It's still 1mm too thick.

Watch is looking sweet Vince. Keep us informed

Thanks all. Silix is getting me the movement and I will be done with it. If I had know this I would have just oredered a whole watch since the case with crown and crystal and the movement equals the price of the completed watch with the band.

If I had done that I would have had a spare dial and hands set to pawn off to off set my loss.
O well.
This might be the last rep I ever tinker with. I think i will get maybe one or two morethat I have been wanting and sell off some other's that get no wrist time. I really want my BR back, I might just bbuy another BR from Silix and have Kent Lume it for me. He owes me a favor (a gratis lume job) and i might take him up on it.
