Found mont blanc reps on aliexpress.com

there are alot of bad reps but some good ones. you have to do your research. compare pics of gen pens with the reps on sale. i replace the ink with gen refills. for the fountain pen i use gen ink too.

range of these reps are $10-20. They look really good and with the gen ink write smooth. you cant go back to normal office/school pens.

buying these reps is a good way to demo the pens...give you a rough idea of how the gen would feel before you buy it...or if you like the mont blanc ink and just want a shell to hold the refills and fountain ink instead of creating your own for roughly the same price ($20)

there are so many rep pens on aliexpress for sale. you have to make sure:
1. check mont blanc site, genuine pen dealer websites like jomashop, amazon, auction websites for collector editions not on current mont blanc site
- compare pics, check writing method - ballpoint, rollerball, fountain pen, check which writing method is available for that pen.

2. chat or send a message to the owner before you buy (there is a chat section on the right side of product web page)
- ask if the pen is in stock before you checkout cart (ask for specifics - color of case, color of diamond or pearl, proper signature on pen(if positioned correctly)
- wait for confirmation before you buy
- if you get a bad one, for $20, give it as a gift, not worth it to return (shipping charges).

3. Shipping takes as long as it does for our watch reps. Its from china too, but free shipping.

I love the mystery black ink...very deep and smooth...the mystery black fountain ink is great - after dipping fountain pen in ink bottle the black ink is not seen...no clean up unlike other inks.

i'm using genuine mont blanc mystery black ink...it uses a converter...

nib size differs...the jules verne i have is broad, the solitaire platinum is medium. i havent filled the copernicus.

i love writing with fountain pens. very smooth...i bet the nib on the gens are even smoother.

How were the fp's compared to the gens?

When I clicked on your link for the display case on Amazon it pulled up a ton of JinHao fountain pens. It was all under the "customers have also bought" section.

Some are gorgeous looking pens and the prices are all under $5 up to $10 with free shipping, plus it is all through Amazon. I wonder how these gen JinHao pens would compare to the rep MB ones? I also wonder if many of them are just the same pens but without the MB stamping?

There are even tons of JinHao refills on the Amazon suggested links, as well.

Mendota, I have a Jinhao fountain pen, they are EXCELLENT.
Really nice build quality and the nib writes very smooth, but the medium nib writes quite wet, thick.

I have extensive MB Pen experience in Aliexpress. Have like thirty of those in several variations. IMHO almost all the ones I got are made by the same maker, yet sold at different prices. I saw no difference between a USD9.00 Starwalker at one dealer and a USD 25.00 version of same pen at another dealer.

I own several gens and love writing with fountain pens. I get my ink online at Diamine (30ml bottles or refills and all the colors you can ask for: blues, reds, greens, ochres, blacks... You name it).

Aliexpress MB tend to be great and write OK out of the box regardless of price. No difference between a 9 dollar and a 50 dollar rep MB. Its been some time since the Chinese mastered the making of these pens. There are several Chinese brands that are great on their own, making nice and inexpensive designs such as Hero. Get a USD 2.00 Hero fountain pen and hold it next to a USD 400 pen and you will feel no difference at all. Trust me. I often do this with non-pen types and show them the gen Montblancs and gen Gold/Silver parkers 75s next to a Hero and no one has ever pointed out it felt "cheaper". Technology is simple.

In Aliexpress sometimes the seller will give you free ink refills, although I never use them and go for the twist-n-refill cartridge they all have. These tend to be crap, but they are inexpensive and once you own several pens you hace a lifetime supply of them (as you would never have all your pens inked at the same time).

Clean them if not using them, water or a solution of house-cleaning ammonia in water.

My favourites rep MB are:

- Starwalker 100 anniversary.
- Julius Verne famous writer MB. Either the blue one or the red one.

BTW many Chinese manufacturers would create "fantasy" reps with the MB logo, so research your model if you are looking for a rep.

Again IMHO any MB pen connoisseur would spot its a rep the minute they hold it and examine it.
