Moisture in glass

Dear all
I have been away from the scene for awhile and recently back in the game.

In the past, all Rep watches are pretty robust and water resistance is not an issue. (Normal usage, not swimming or diving)

However, the new watch I got , upon wearing on the 2nd day, water condensation happens when in air con environment.

A check with TD on a possiblity of original rubber gasket not working that why there is water moisture inside. But his response was it is common as I didn't opt for the water pressure test which is additional $60 dollars.

Just wanted to check is this the new norm where Rep watches these days are not even water seal for normal wearing? The watch has not even touch water and there is already condensation in it. I just feel it not that acceptable.

Sorry to hear that, but I am quite sure this is not the norm and that you have just been very unlucky. Which watch are we talking about?

So I should insist to TD that it is a lemon?
Or just try to fix it locally and blame it on bad luck?

I think it's bad luck, my friend. Remembering it's a rep and not a gen is important. I trust @Elliot Black 100% with purchases and what he sells. I have bought 4 watches from him and every single one has been perfect. What is more concerning, is that the watch developed condensation without it being splashed or submerged?

It is interesting that I have to be reminded by a member who jus joined in 2024 that I do not know the difference between Rep and Gen

I am been buying about 50 reps since I join in 2009 and none has such issues. I mean we are talking about a very basic requirement of a watch, even a child's kid that cost $10 will not get condensation in the glass.
This $400 rep that has not even touch water gets condensation under the sun which I felt it is unacceptable standard even for a rep.

Try opening the caseback and placing in a dessicant (or dry rice) sealed bag overnight then grease the caseback seal and close it up. This should remove enough moisture to prevent fogging unless another seal is leaking.

I meant no disrespect at all here.

I will definitely try. If the "leak" is case back, it can be a fixed. I am more worried it is the glass gasket that is not probably done. That will be a difficult fix finding the right gasket replacement

Cross that bridge if you get there. Most likely it was assembled in a humid setting. If the seal was blown, I wouldn't expect fogging unless it was exposed to water, which is unlikely as it's new. Most likely the moisture is trapped in there from assembly.

Must be getting old or simply too frustrated with the purchase.
I forgotten to add to this thread and started a new one instead

Just to keep all posted,
