Modding a replica - VH31 movement

Hello all,

I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm looking for someone who can mod a replica and put a VH31 or similar sweep seconds quartz Movement inside it.

Ideally it would be a regular OF Tag Heuer Aquaracer but most have dates, and the VH31 has no Date.

So, I was wondering where can I get someone to help me conclude that there are no other quartz sweeping seconds movements with Date. And if that's the case, if I can get a No Date replica and easily get someone to change the movement to a VH31. Reference WBP1110.BA0627 for instance.

As a last question, I wonder if there are no OOB replicas with the VH31 movement and if there's a reason for that.

Thanks for any Help.

Sunon SP35D is a Chinese sweeping seconds hand quartz movement with a date.

That being said, changing a movement isn't always straight forward. You have the diameter size of the movement or ligne, height of the stem, thickness, date placement, etc. You'll have to do a lot of research.

The main question is why? If you want VH31 and reliability, just buy a homage.....

Unironically by modding a replica with the VH31 movement you're probably going to make it more unreliable. At the bare minimum it'll be some dial snipping, broaching hands or finding hands to fit the movement, casework or 3d printed plastic ring, swapping crown to VH31 stem, it's complicated and will take time and cost you money

If you want a replica that's reliable, there are plenty of quartz replicas, especially from OF such as Breitling or some OF Tag Chrono, Cartier Tank, etc

I did quite a lot of research on this concept

The VH31 is a clumsy one with a stem height of 1.6mm

It might or might not swap with a 2824

Hands are 120/70/17

A better bet is the ISA 1198 which can swap with 2836… perfect for a JFK 5513
Hands 150/90/20

This is very interesting.
I've been looking at a lot of VH31 options and they are all very small <39mm, probably because Chinese have tiny wrists.

The only one that caught my attention was the WD00006 but it's still 38 mm, which looks kinda small on my wrist, specially because it has no bezel.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong places, but I couldn't find any sub no date, Tag Aquaracer or similar no-dates with the VH31. Hell, I even looked at Seiko mods and didn't find much.

The practicality of the Quartz, in a modern looking sports watch is something that I wanted. And I wonder if this VH31 isn't more reliable than those Asian clones movements and Mingzhu Movements that they put on low/mid tier reps.

No reps use VH31 because quite frankly speaking, in terms of replicas/replication, they are inferior movements. First of all, they are a weird 14,400 BPH. So for most replicas they are already wrong. Not alot of genuine watches have this kind of beat rate/tick. Second of all, the VH31 is not that easily found on scale for replicas. Thirdly, there are not alot of parts or cases readily available with this movement.

If you want "reliability", honestly speaking the A2824 replicas are already solid. And like I said, there are other quartz replicas (that are not sweeping second but still quartz). If these don't meet your standard. And honestly speaking, "reliability" and "replica" are not that compatible. If this is what you want, GShock or gen watch is your go to.

Otherwise, like I said, if you want VH31, use VH31 Aliexpress homages. I actually own 2 VH31 chinese homages, they're fun beaters, so I understand why you want a replica with them, but I think it's very unlikely they will make them. There are "better" options in the eyes of replica factories.

I'll look closer to other brands with VH31's and maybe even fall in love with a Bulova Precisionist, they're difficult to find where I'm located.

In my ignorance I thought it'd be a decent fit to change a clone movement to a generic Seiko VH31 but I see how that it's not easy/doable and not better in reliability.

I'd like to buy a rep AP Royal Oak or Milgauss but I prefer Quartz movements. Would any watchmaker swap the movement of a rep Milgauss (BP Asia clone 3131) with a Casio Quartz movement that I bought from amazon? Would any watchmaker with 4+ google reviews do it?
