it really helps having the genuines here for examples when doing these mods! i just finished this 177 and 111 with my custom lume mix dubbed "c2" the mixe is a match to the genuine color.. not pure c3as many believe but a mix of c1 and c3. also this customer requested i change the font color on the dial from the bright white to the off white as on the gen.. some use the "smoke" method but i don't smoke so i soak them in a tank of a mixed instant coffee (super thick 3 parts mix/1 part water) and a small amount of iodine. i soak for 2 days then rinse and dry. the effect is the font is evenly and lightly stained to a color much closer to the genuine. tones down the bright white fonts! i also did a cannon upgrade and i fixed the loose CG levers (best bang for the buck to make a pam rep more believable) the CG levers on reps are loose and floppy.. my modification makes them tight and move with some resistance exactly like the genuine lever. and finally! as a gift for sending me three watches at once for mods, i added a spare swanneck regulator i had to the basic asian movement on his fiddy! not fully functional but looks much better than no swanneck! the fiddy was done with the same lume mix and the cannon and lever were modded too.

i wanted to share the comparison pics with the forum.

definately a mix!! i used 80% c1!! only 20% c3 and it's near exact match. nice to be here. it's darker here LOL!

FF, is it just the exposure of the pics or is the L SWISS MADE L very close to the 6 on your 111i? How does the font spacing compare to the rep? The mods look great by the way.

Oh, and I can attest to the benifit to be gained from the crown guard lever mod flav offers. I have a watch with the fix and it makes a substantial difference in its overall feel.

the l swiss l on the gen sits in the same spot in the center but is a much smaller font. the dial fonts are not the same. the "2" in the "12" is different on the gen too. and yes.. the CG mod is gold!

Thank you so much FF for the thickness of crown. It is really not that thick as I understand before. May be the matching of crown and CG and the radius profile of CG make it look thicker than it is.

Absolutely beautiful work. But I would expect no less from Flav.

In truth many of our rep crowns are plenty good enough. And remember that although the size remains the same the bevel changes from year to year and model to model. It is all about the CG. Most rep CG's have way to big a hole which makes the crowns look smaller. Put a Palp crown in a Jimmy CG (I did) and it looks totally wrong - awesome but totally wrong. Also I look at Flav's crown and compare to the 5218 gen crowns I have and the 5218's have a much more severe bevel and look substantially smaller. Ever wonder how the gen CG's can have less room and still allow for better functionality for the winding and setting features? The answer is that the gen has the base of the crown far more recessed. I do have to say that I am loving the bevel on this I series (H too) crowns.
