Took the leap and ordered a slightly customized 3KF 5811 from Popup, and it just arrived today. Happy with the result and the overall experience, though one surprise was that I find myself preferring the original 3KF dial to the installed Buff dial (see photos). I will have to look at this in daylight again tomorrow to know for sure.
Specs for the mod were:
- 3KF 5811 base
- Buff dial & hands
- Anniversary date wheel
- White gold plating
Order Timeline:
15th August - Contacted Popup on WhatsApp via his info on RWI
18th August - Received first reply, had first discussion regarding costs, timeline
19th August - Discussion finalized, funds send via Paypal F&F
16th September - First follow up, was informed there was an issue with the bracelet being which was being fixed
28th September - QC photos received, greenlit, shipped the next day
12th October - Received in the UK without issues
Good communication from Popup overall, ordering process was fairly easy. Was quoted approx. 15 days to make the watch + 10 days for gold plating + 15 days to deliver = 40 days. Part way through the build he said was an issue with the bracelet which was fixed but which slightly affected delivery times; overall everything was received satisfactorily within 53 days.
