Hi all, I'm building a Tudor 7016. Do you have any experience with these two dial makers? Which is best quality.

Thanks

No experience of either but both are generally well regarded, with Phong perhaps the more revered.

However, I would throw these two into the mix:

And also MQ, who is generally considered 'the best' for Tudor: https://vintagewatchesmq.com/minhqu...ategory_id=147&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

I have a Chad (very good for a budget/mid price build) and an MQ, which is more 'high end'.

Welcome !

There is always bivintagestore2014 on ebay as well and he has an account here.

I would say BV was a bit more budget though, depending on what you are looking for.
That's actually where I'm getting my case from, but he doesn't have the oyster prince dial I'm looking for.

The devil is in the details. Take some time and look ridiculously up close at gen dials and really soak in the minutia, then compare to the various rep options: minute track and distance to dial markers, shapes of dial markers, lume color and application, text font, thickness, serrifs, color, and position on dial, finish of dial and its edges, baseplate condition and dial feel, etc (I could go on).

If you are OCD enough you will see why some charge more, some less, and you have to pick the level of accuracy vs cost that you're comfortable with for your build. And if you are reeeeally OCD enough you may even be able to spot some of these dials in Gens that are for sale on various platforms... buyer beware

My favorite dial that I have is an older MQ Red Sub, it's just unbelievable the level of detail put into that and its better than what he has available now. This dial isnt even in my best build, but I'm happy where it is, for now.

Take a walk in the vintage section, all the information you need about those and more more is there.

I'm a big fan of MoChaCha. Really excellent quality dials that are plenty close enough to gen, without an eye-watering price. Among others I've bought from him there's a Tudor blue snowflake dial which is bang on (IMHO).

If money is no object, then often Phong will be hard to beat on quality - but you're talking miniscule differences, and I'm not sure the price differential justifies it. (I've also read reports in the past of variable quality from Phong).

Ruby is also well worth considering. And MQ, as mentioned above.

You could always buy a gen dial off eBay that is faded and damaged and not to you liking and get it professionally repainted many even use older coloured lume
