Miyota Replacement

Hello all
Unfortunately, my miyota powered 42mm crPO has stopped working. I have removed the case back to see if there was anything obvious fouling the movement, but there is nothing obvious to the untrained eye.
My question to the collective experts on this forum is...can a replacement miyota movement be easily sourced and fitted? If you can purchase a suitable miyota movement, would it be an economical repair or would I be better to junk the watch?
I did enjoy wearing this in rotation with my other watches and would like to revive it.
I suspect the fact that I wore it plating golf has maybe caused some of the decorated movement to come loose and foul the movement in the depths of the watch. I have now learnt not to wear my watches playing golf.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

First of all I would try to find a watchsmith in your (cold) city, a watch shop that looks cheap from the outside to see if he can fix it, you can have some surprise on how cheap it can get to fix it. If you can't find any that are willing to work on your watch, then think about replacement. You didn't mention the movement but I guess that if you look for the same movement on ebay you can have an idea on its price.

Which miyota movement is it?

Hi, quartz are fine for playing golf as construction wise there are much better suited to absorb shock. If it´s the decorated myota the tiny parts as fake screws or rubis do come off and may have fallen inside. A replacement Myota (undecorated, same specs) should be easy to find on ebay / maybe Cousins.Uk and is well worth it. Good luck in sorting it out.

Thanks guys.

Is it easy to identify which miyota movement is in the watch?

Thanks Tom. The links are useful.

What do you reckon? My local watchsmith took a look at it briefly today and he reckoned it was not a miyota.

My guess is that it's just the standard decorated Miyota 8215 movement, only when the 'decoration' is removed you'll see the true base movement. I think V6F factory doesn't make this model with other movements, but I could be wrong..

The watchsmith probably reckoned it wasn't a Miyota because of the decoration plates. Take those off and it should be obvious.

Well....just to draw a line under this post.

I bought a miyota 8215 on fleabay for close to £20 and tentatively undertook the movement transplant myself. First time doing this kind of thing and to be honest, relatively straightforward if a little fiddly.

And my only slight faux pas?......annoyingly I forgot to reset the hand change pinion before mounting the hands, with the result that the date changes at around 5ish. No biggy for me as I intend to keep this daily beater, but a very interesting learning project.

Next up is my dead PAM 390 which has been sat in a drawer for over a year. This time, no date change to worry about
