Hello Forum Members,
I decided to replace the fake miyota 8215 with a genuine one , when I went to install the dial I noticed the date window was way off .

Any idea how to correct this ?
Thanks Ed

you've got to swap the overlay too.
Everything is going wrong with this mod , the new Miyota 8215 is defective, the date failed to change !
I just returned it via amazon prime !.
I’m thinking of purchasing a better quality movement such as the new ETA 2824 movement, the question is do I need to purchase new Mercedes hand set and will the dial feet on my Asia Deepsea Seadweller fit the ETA 2824 clone movement?
If it doesn’t fit what type of mod do I have to do to the dial in order for it to fit the eta movement?

Thanks for your help 🙏

Or should I go with a Miyota 9015 ?

Dial feet are different between the Miyota and ETA. So are the hands. You'd need to move the dial feet (or use dial stickers) or get a new dial. You'd also need new hands.
The Miyota is a solid movement, if it were me, I'd stick with that. You might have got a bad one, or made an error on the install, but you won't improve much on what you have unless you're prepared to do some fairly involved custom work.

in my opinion, to keep things straightforward, i recommend buying another miyota 8215 and swapping it in. Movements like ETA 2824-2 and Miyota 9015 have different crown/stem/tube height (as well as different sizes of hands, depending on the movement) which makes swapping even trickier.

you will also need to swap over the dwo (datewheel overlay) which is glued on top of the original movement's date disc. Use a thin blade to separate the DWO from the date disc of the original movement. You can use the existing dial as an alignment tool for gluing the DWO onto the new movement.

also, if you get stuck, you can find a forum modder to help you do the transfer.

You might be able to swap over the complete datewheel, including the overlay, which would allow you to avoid lining everything up. Not sure if you can do it on a Miyota without separating the overlay from the date wheel.

Is there a tutorial on the date wheel swap ?

Any You Tube video on servicing a Miyota would show what needs to be done to remove and install the date wheel as a whole. As far as swapping the overlay itself, there's a few guides on this and similar sites.

If it's at all doable, I'd try to swap the complete date wheel with assembly. Lining them up can be a huge, frustrating pain in the...neck.

I’ll salvage the entire date wheel 👍🏼
It give it a try I think they’re 4 screws that release the date wheel .

Ok so I just received a new Miyota 8215 movement from EBay .
And again the date does not change when I place set in the time setting position and advance to 24hrs , the date does not advanced same issue with the 1st 8215 I returned .
It does advance in the date setting poison , but not in the time setting position after advancing 24hrs , is it another defective movement?
