If the price was a little more reasonable, I'd buy it and then replace the crystal with a non-domed AR coated sapphire from Davidsen.

I'm concerned more with the case and dial than the domed crystal, I love it on my Marina Militare from Davidsen, but it's not a MUST for this watch, IMO.

But $500 for a non-sapphire, Chinese 6497 powered, non-Superlumed rep? C'mon. :roll:

I'm SOOOOOOO glad that we get the value and quality that we get with our dealers....

but the concept of a 44mm MM dial and fiddy cushion case, gold hands...very cool.

Maybe you could email Davidsen or another dealer and he/them could make a limited "Dark side" edition of it.
If so, I am a buyer right now so we got 2 interested at the least.
(But I'm not paying 500 bucks 8) )

id be really curious to see a 44mm sized "1950" styled case. it seems like it would open up a whole world of potential however it would be interesting to see if the smaller size actually worked in the flesh or whether you would just long for the bigger size everytime you put it on.

it depends

if you've tried on a 212, it's the same thing. just a busy dial, chrono...but same case.

and your eyes get used to something after a while. now that i don't wear my 47's much, i find they look kind of silly (at least on me). i really like 44. but there was a time when i first got my fiddy and rxw mm20 that i couldn't even look at 44 - it looked so small.

but believe me, everytime i have a 44 on, everyone comments "good god, what a huge watch!" again, it's just what your eyes are used to.

fwiw, i obviously think the 44mm mini fiddy case is a fantastic platform to do some interesting projects with. unfortunately, nobody is making a good version right now...particularly, real sapphire. surprising since there are so many takers here. and LOTS of paneristi threads wishing panerai would do a mini fiddy.
