I thought this one would have been mentioned by now. Anyway I love the Chopard brand, the more I see the more I appreciate them. Here's a ripped photo and some guff I pulled from the web:

montre6492.jpg

Chopard’s emblematic sports watch has come to symbolise the world’s most famous classic car rally, the Millie Miglia. The Mille Miglia Watch remains loyal to the annual event that has made it a classic in the field of luxury watchmaking. Immediately recognisable thanks to its natural rubber strap echoing the 1960s Dunlop Racing tyre-tread motif, it appears in 2011 in a 44 mm-diameter steel or 18-carat rose gold case housing a self-winding chronograph movement chronometer-certified by the COSC.
The strength of true classics is that they simply will never age, provided they are perpetually reinvented. The Mille Miglia watch, an iconic sports watch since 1988 when Choaprd began its partnership with this legendary race, has become one of the great watchmaking legends.
An iconic design
The 2011 model is certainly a match for the reputation established by its illustrious predecessors. A powerful design combined with sterling technical qualities make this yet another great vintage. The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2011 is distinguished by a generous 44 mm case in steel or 18-carat rose gold, framing a dial with a vintage-style design featuring elongated numerals that are nonetheless in tune with the spirit of the characteristic Mille Miglia numerals. The engine-turned dial finish is reminiscent of vintage sports car dashboards, while its black colour lends a resolutely contemporary touch that beautifully highlights the silver-toned snailed and hollowed counters at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock. The minute circle appears in black and red – a nod to the colour of the race that annually attracts the finest classic cars to the route running from Brescia to Rome.
The case of the Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2011 is water-resistant to 100 metres and fitted with a bezel bearing a tachometric scale, as well as a screw-lock crown adorned with the famous Mille Miglia arrow and broad chronograph pushers. The arrow symbol also appears in the centre of the transparent case-back, along with the inscriptions Limited Edition and Brescia-Rome-Brescia. The overall readability is further improved by glareproofed sapphire crystals on both sides of the watch.
Technically irreproachable
The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2011 is equally impeccable from a technical standpoint. Its mechanical self-winding movement beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour is visible through the transparent case-back. Chronometer-certified by the COSC, it features a 46-hour power reserve and drives the hour,
minute, date, small seconds functions, as well as the chronograph with its central seconds hand, and its 30-minute and 12-hour counters. It is also equipped with a stop seconds mechanism enabling time-setting to the nearest second.
A limited edition for collectors
The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2011 is available in a steel 2,011-piece limited edition or in a 250-piece limited 18-carat rose gold version. It is fitted with a new integrated strap in natural rubber echoing the design of the famous 1960s Dunlop Racing tyres. The 2011 vintage will once again be sought-after by collectors around the world….

Indeed it is. . .

Great looking pieces but so DRASTICALLY over-priced. . .

Most watches ARE over-priced, but sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, stand back and admire the months, years, decades of hard work and the genius minds that have contributed to their creativity.

I completely agree with you. What is life for if not for enjoying. . . I am specifically talking about the Mille Miglia though, a valjoux 7750 stainless steel and rubber is not supposed to cost 8 grand+. . . Watches can be very over priced I just personally think even as beautiful as this piece is the bang for the buck is way but WAYYYYYYYYYYYY off on the gen. . . The rep is made out of the same materials and basically the same movement, just a clone. . .

Hell, even getting the rep and sticking a gen 7750 is going to cost you less than $500!

I had a Chopard Mille Miglia sighting the other day and couldn't stop looking at it. I think I made the dude feel uncomfortable lol. It was just like this one the OP posted, but with a brown leather strap. Stunning. I want one.

But it has the exclusive stop-seconds mechanism for accurate time setting. That alone must be worth thousands! ;-)
Beautiful watch. WAY over-priced.

Of course, I was in an AD today and a TT DJ2 now lists just over $10,000.

Beautiful!! More pics? :)

As for those complaining about the price... Well, look at it this way: millions of people buy the very same water they can get from their own taps at home in little bottles from shops, and are happy to pay 1000 times more for it. Why? Mostly because of the packaging. Same thing here. It may be the same old movement, but the outstanding packaging (and that includes the design, branding etc) makes some people look beyond the mere ingredients of the watch. As for me, I'll just wait for the rep... ;) ...Actually, scrap that. I just remembered I can't stand rubber bands.

I don't think this one uses a Valjoux 7750, it's probably using a Valgranges A07.211 movement ($650 +-), so still overpriced (the gen). Lovely piece though

One pays for exclusivity with high end watches not intrinsic value. For $8000 you get to join the exclusive club of 2000 owners worldwide and proclaim it to the world.

Just proves how fickle people are due to excellent marketing. The pams are a great example. "Let me spend $5k on a watch that has a $200 movement so that people will know I can afford expensive watches."

When you spend more on a car you get something tangible that you appreciate everytime you step into the car. On a watch all you get is a more expensive movement that will keep the same time and cost more to service. It's crazy IMO.
