Being a retired old fart I've been looking into these, and being a replica watch addict, and car nutter I thought I'd share some videos as I recently bought some SLK body panels from a guy who calls himself Ratchet Rebuilds who is building one, namely the front wings as my V8 SLK that some of you know needs a right front wing, and they are now NLA from MB, the pattern ones are overpriced shite

So, the first 2 Videos, are of a completed project Gullwing by a Yourkshire firm called not just campers, but don't watch the first videao which is a summary of the whole project done by a pro video company if you are like me and want to watch the whole series, which they filmed and You Tubed. I started at Video 2 on here and watched the whole series first before that pro video.
Their attention to detail and the repetitive revisiting the same jobs in stages to get everything perfect is just amazing.
The episode with the Painter spraying the whole vehicle is just a work of art from a truly top notch sprayer. This Gullwing is the best build I've ever seen from the UK

The guy I bought my SLK parts from is the 3rd video, and his is a work in progress.

Get out yon popcorn and enjoy it is well worth watching all of them on a binge basis like I dun did

The not just campers videos are average 20 minutes each one of 50 ish.
It took me about 5 nights in all to watch the whole lot as I was doing about 10 episodes per night

I appreciate the skill and knowledgebase of these guys and the final product looks phenomenal.
But the ongoing maintenance of a hybrid merc, if it ever gets owned by someone who lacks these guy’s expertise, will throw up a myriad of issues. The non-standard elements, and there are a lot, cannot be replaced by off the shelf components. The use of glass fibre, although used in many body shells, was a little too much and left me slightly uneasy. I’m not doing the project down and I’m aware that this is his(their) personal interpretation of a classic, but there were some things that did make me wince slightly. I’d still like to own it though.

No, not at all.
This beauty is completely original, owner wouldn't tell me the value but said :
"For this you can buy a good family house"

At today's prices, an original one with history in that condition should fetch around $ 3.500,000 + one sold last year for $3.41m and it was in top condition.

An "average" Gullwing will go for £1.6m in UK and "average" means it needs some coin spent
