This wallet has been on my buy list, for quite some time now. So when JAFO had a big sale, I had to snatch some up! So, after looking around, it seems no one actually posts any pictures of their Goyard wallet after they buy them! Tons of sales from JAFO, and a bunch of silent buyers.. So for anyone interested in purchasing one, here's a quick little review.
The exterior of the wallet is pretty amazing. Each of the dots actually look hand painted, as there are no repeating patterns in the way each dot has been applied. The painted dots are all raised off of the canvas material, just like the gen. I've even seen some gen wallets, that are sloppier than the rep I have! Now the logo being centered was a tell to me at first, until I saw more photos of the gen wallet. It seems that the Goyard logo actually moves around from wallet to wallet. I've seen it from far right, in the middle, and to the left; so I wouldn't worry about that. The Goyard logo being cut in half on the backside, might be a tell. Though I've seen that happen on gen Goyard bags, so it might not be a problem on the wallet. In general, the exterior quality is really top notch.
Now, the interior are where the main flaws lay. The biggest one being the fact that gen Goyard wallets have 3 slots for cards on each side, where the rep has 4. From what I've seen, they have had many differing versions of the mens wallet over the years, so it's not going to be a huge tell IMO. On the plus side, the leather used in the wallet is very buttery and soft, and the Goyard stamp look very good as well. So no complaints from me!
Now the second biggest tell, would be the lining. In the card slots, and the bill folds, there should be yellow LEATHER lining the inside. On the reps, they use a yellow FABRIC instead. This looks the part from a distance, but in hand, or up close, you can easily tell it's not leather. Now because it happens to be fabric, it might not last as long, time will tell though.
On the wallets I bought from JAFO, these were sent to him without the fabric lining in the bill fold area. Normally on all wallets he sells, they will have the yellow fabric inside. Personally, I actually like this more. The leather will wear better, and I wouldn't want that nice buttery leather covered with fabric anyway! On these reps, just make sure you keep your wallet flush with cash. No one will ever seen past the green, to find your yellow lining anyway!
These wallets are definitely worth every cent. Very well made, and totally different than the millions of LV wallets out there. These are so rare in the wild, that people will rarely recognize the brand, or the flaws.
Thanks to JAFO for offering these at a discount, you rock dude!
