So i bought a watch from a well-known member here from italy which i wont disclose who yet. He shipped the watch with post italienne in november and it hasnt updated since then, the only reason i waited this long to do something about it is because there was a canada post strike which lead to a big backlog in canada and other problems. My problem is the shipping method the seller chose, He chose to ship with poste italienne which is often regarded as the worst shipping method in europe and he also decided to choose the untracked once in receivers country shipping method so I legitimately cannot have the slightest idea where it could possibly be. I also told him if he could use a different method like fedex as there was a canada post strike and he said no. I had also bought a watch from italy during that month from kilowatore and it arrived perfectly with tracking, My reason for this post is do you guys find this fair and is there anything i can do or somewhere i can contact to know where it could possibly be ? please let me know. this is the last of the tracking status as you can see, i have been waiting for this to update only to realize thats as far as the tracking goes, I tried contacting canada post but they said there is nothing they can do as this is untracked mail, I also contacted canada border service and asked seller to contact poste italienne but no luck on either. No email or phone number has been added to the package as the seller said its not needed . What do you guys think ? Ive been stressing about this for a while as its a very expensive watch.

No tracking and this amount of time I doubt you can do anything, I presume you have contacted the seller? Have they offered any help? Not that much can be done

Mate, as someone else said chances for an "happy ending" are slim unfortunately

Ask the seller to raise a complaint in Italy (you cannot do that), that might lead to an investigation from Poste side.
Talk to the seller and discuss the next steps.

In my personal experience Poste Italiane is as bad as many other national postal service providers, not significantly worse. For valuable watches UPS or DHL for me.

I can only speak from the experiences I have had shipping many watches over the years, both replica and gens:

- Canada has one of the worst and longest postal services. As a Canadian myself, although living in the UK, the processing and handling times at each stage of the journey seems to take an ungodly amount of time. I once had a watch take many, many months for it to get from Vancouver to London, I am talking close to 6 months. It seemed like at every stage the package would go missing before it starts moving on a random day. Eventually the watch arrived.
- Italy is also not up there with the best, and there seems to be a reputation with certain packages going missing. This one indeed reached the International Processing Center, so to be "swiped" at that stage would be unusual to me at least.

I think it made it onto a plane at some point, and is currently in some warehouse between Canada Post and CBSA.

Recommendation: Only the Seller/Shipper can get this investigated. If he is able to do that, at least the tracking number will be flagged the next time it is scanned. Other than that, it is a waiting game unfortunately. I trust it will arrive, at some point, but when exact is near impossible to know.

It is always good practice to include a phone number or email on the package.

I am sorry for your lost package, but this happened in November and now we are in April, it is a little late, for even hoping something. What should have happened is that your italian friend got hold of Poste Italiane and asked them to track it since that package never left Italy. Did he do that? Most likely there is also a standard reimbursement if a package is lost by the shipping company.
Shipping with national couriers is always a bad idea since they only cover up to the border and then give it over to another national courier and things can and will be lost in between.
If Poste Italiane claims that the package had made it to Canada (I don't believe so) then they can tell the sender who was the operator on the other side, whether they used another tracking number and taken it from there with whoever the operator was in Canada.
But all this is close to impossible now so long time is gone.
Most likely this is just a lesson learned. Many have tried it themselves (I did with the Danish Postal Service) and learned to never ever use national post services (maybe with the exception of DHL)

BTW I am not sure you are correct when saying that it is untracked. Poste Italiane reports that it has been sent as "Raccomandata". That means that it is being tracked and you have to sign it for receipt.

I don’t think that’s true as another member here bought a watch with the same tracking method as mine and even when he received it it had not updated whatsoever. It says final status on the tracking as no tracking once it enters Canada

Was this an approved M2M sale or one done via PM/email?
@Harris1234 ?

I'm guessing it's this one & you ignored another Moderator here too...so my spidey senses are edging towards it being a back door sale.

The buyer pays for shipping, so the buyer decides the shipping method. The buyer also knows their own country, so usually advises on inward declaration etc.

If the seller said he was using PI, ignored your request of an alternative, prior to you sending money, I'm a loss as to why you would bother dealing with him, as you seem to be aware of issues with PI?

If you requested an alternative shipping method, and the seller ignored you (in your post you seem to imply that he said no though and chose PI, am just not sure when, but doesn't really matter tbh) name & shame him, otherwise your thread is worthless.
