Maybe a question for the experts?

Right, I can't seem to get something out of my head at the moment.

I love the PAM438. I had one then I sold it....mainly becasue the lack of working PR really bugged me. So much so I'm thinking of a gen, but I can't bring myself to spending that much consdering the rep is so good.

My question is; if factories are buying gens, taking them apart, replicating the pieces and putting them together, why is it that a P.9001/B movement cant be replicated 100%, 1:1, "who has best sub" etc etc.??

I know all the usual arguments (1/200th of the price of a gen and all that) but that's surely more down to the quality of the materials rather than the structure/method in how wheels, plates and springs are assembled?

Would love to hear some thoughts

Rep makers usually don't replicate in house movements. They focus on case, dial, hands and all visual aspects. They fit, adapt, decorate movements allready availible.

I don't think the the R/D is worth it $$$$$$ wise to them having to build a new movement in a sense from scratch based off a gen. financially it would raise the price of Reps. IMO

Rep makers don't make movements and neither do those they contract parts out to. The movement in your watch is made by a large maker such as Sea-Gull or Liaoning to name but two. These makers will not make a copyright infringing movement so a standard movement from a maker is acquired and then the bridges are changed, engraved and decorated, shock absorbers changed, swan necks added etc by a secondary maker who is not capable of making a movement from scratch. This guy is small and set up specifically for turning legit movements into rep varieties.

So the reason for the lack of a perfect clone is that no company capable of reverse engineering and making a clone from scratch is willing to break the law to do so, they get on quite well already thank you. The only reason we have an accurate clone of the Rolex movement is that the patent ran out years ago. You will notice the Yuki (the only direct clone) has no Rolex markings as that would infringe.

First of all, Yuki's 3135 is mind blowing amazing. Second of all, is the swan neck on the clone 6497-2 movement a working swan neck? And if not, could it be???
