So i've got this luminox that i absolutely love, and it stopped working. I assumed it was a battery issue, but after putting 3 batteries into it w/o it working again - i'm not so sure. Is there something more mechanical i should be investigating to troubleshoot? It's 3 years old, so out of warranty, but still LOTS of life left in the tritium tubes - i'm not willing to chalk it up as a loss, but not quite sure what else to do. I can always take it to the local watch shop i suppose, but am a bit of a DIY guy (like my wife says, why pay someone $10 to do it when i can spend $1000 and do it myself??)

Probably more that $10 to fix it yourself. I've had three luminox watches, that I've enjoyed a lot. I have an older carbon fiber/ stainless model that they don't support anymore. I've had to send it in annually, since I dive in salt water with it, it has had issues. I'ts had three movements in 5 years. The last time, after a complete overhaul at Saltzman's (authorized repair), the movement was giving me the Dead Battery second hand twitch, exactly three days after the warranty ended. I sent it back and they said that "something" was draining the battery and it needed a new movement... Again. I love the look of my Luminox watches, but their reliability has left me unimpressed...

I don't know if it would fit, but I've always wanted to take an automatic movement out of a cheap Parnis watch, and make an automatic Frankenox out of what I have... I've had a hell of a time, just trying to find replacement hands for the watch, for self mods...

I actually had the same thought - now, i'll freely admit i don't know much about watch repair (that's probably being generous..), but i suspect i could ebay a quartz movement for not much at all, and have wondered if i could simply drop one in...i'd need to figure out how to get the pin out, but that's got to be a solvable problem..

So this is strange, with the crown fully pushed in, the second hand still wasn't moving. I was frustrated and fiddling with it, and turned the crown while it was still fully pushed in, and viola - she started working again...
