Luminor Composite models will not be produced, PAM375, PAM386

It seems that Panerai have decided to abandon production of Luminor composite models (at least for now).

The Paneristi have been waiting for these models to actually be released for years now. The latest news is that Panerai will not produce the previously announced Luminor models in composite material.

This means that 375 and 386 reps would be "fantasy" watches.

They have, and are still producing Radiomir models in composite.

Just FYI.

Was there a reason given? Gen PAM 375 is an extremely handsome watch.

It's certainly not due to lack of interest. People have been salivating over both these models since they were shown.

They aren't going to come out and say why, but it is reportedly due to difficulties with either the production process or the final quality of the parts when used with the Luminor case shape.

the 386 has already been released... so our rep386 will not be a fantasty... just a discontinued model.

If you can find someone that has one I'm interested to hear about it. From what all the people that have been on the waiting list for it have said, they have never been delivered. This is from the people on the Paneristi forum.

This has been a ongoing discussion on the Panerai forum. Continuing reports of delays and new anticipated release dates, but it never happened. Now it seems they are finally giving up on it.

Here's a post from today even:

Well that's bad news but I wouldn't say reps of 375 and 386 should be considered a fantasy. There are quite a few photos on paneristi forum (and some other gen forums) of people wearing these two models.

Ok, maybe these were just prototypes or small quantity promotion productions. But there are a few of these watches (gens) outthere and that's enough not to call their rep counterparts fantasy. Even if only one 375 or 386 were produced, only as a prototype, that would be enough for me.

But that's nothing compared to the difficulty rep manufacturers seem to have with reproduction of composite color. If they make progress and make it closer to gen, I would buy more of them (I already have 386 1.1 and 375 on the way), fantasy or not.

These photos of people "wearing" these models are at Panerai exhibitions. They were not released into the public's hands.

I am sure the only pieces that exist are safely tucked away within the Panerai vaults :)

Fantasy or not, these are 2 of my very favorite PAM's!

Of course, you're right. It's about the definition of fantasy. Is fantasy the watch that has never been in (regular) production or the watch that has never been manufactured at all. These exhibition models have, obviously, been produced, but only in small quanitity, not on massive scale. But I agree with you,I love those 2 as well:)

However, I think there's one positive thing about this news: you'll never see someone wear a gen, so they won't have anything to compare your rep to. On the other side, someone who knows these two were never mass produced, will know you're wearing a fake right away.
