hi all, new to the rep watch scene And i wondered about watch lubrication. Now i have a troublesome 2813 movement and id like to lube it see if it makes a difference. Is there a general purpose oil in an oiler pen widely available please? Would you even lubricate the movement and if so where, the gears, jewels etc?

2813 aren't worth fixing up usually - the cost of buying oil and tools will exceed the price of a new 2813. Perhaps you could try to regulate the movement instead?

are you emotionally frustrated from not being able to rectify your troublesome 2813 movement?
how would you react if you reached down and flipped the tortoise over on its back - under the hot baking sun?
just checking in to see if we have a replicant on rwi

Don't oil it, you're just going to damage it.

Only thing worth oiling is the rotor bearing to help quite it down during autowind. I use D5 for my customers, but again a bottle cost more than the movement but it will last you 10,000 2813 rotor bearings lol

Try cousins watch or ebay - DG2813, Miyota 8215 is a good upgrade

i recommend replacing a 2813 with another 2813. An ETA clone A2836-2 movement might fit but those cost 80 pounds approx and it isn't worth it for a cheapie watch upgrade (i.e. 2813 watches are commonly associated to low grade reps so it isn't worth spending more and 2836-2 movements require different hands... with exceptions though e.g. a case reshaped cartel vintage sub which originates with a 2813 movement can demand for a better movement)

i think cousinsuk might have 2813 movements https://www.cousinsuk.com/department/watch-movements

If you haven't learnt how to fit and remove hands, I recommend reading this (requires a repgeek account):
http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?24567-Fitting-Gen-Dial-Hands-amp-Crystal-into-a-UPO

and watching this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a60eb49-6EM

my personal tip is to use the right adapter size for the hands setting tool when you are reinstalling the hands. If the hand setting tool's adapter circumference is too much bigger than the hole of the hands, you will risk bending the hands when pressing the hands down. Try to get the hands perpendicular to the flatness of the dial without touching the dial or the other hands

thanks for the advice pompompurin, actually the rep is superb YM 40 and well worth considering the upgrade.

thanks for the advice pompompurin, actually the rep is superb YM 40 and well worth considering the upgrade.

Even if you decide to put a 2836-2 into your 2813 yachtmaster, the crown/stem/height on a 2813 / 2836-2 rolex rep is wrong compared to gen (one of the biggest rep rolex flaws). Then you will run into another problem of sourcing sub/yachtmaster hands that is compatible with the 2836-2 movement as you can't really buy good hands individually (maybe TDs can help you source them but it's difficult to buy nice hands on its own).

Once the cost start adding up for the 2836-2 movement upgrade with hands (£105 total?) AND assuming that the 2836-2 movement could actually fit inside your 2813 case (it might not fit because they are 2 different movements) AND you will likely need a new movement ring (£10 + time for trial and error for potential sanding to make the ring fit), then IMO it's not a time/cost effective project just to upgrade a cheapie 2813 when the watch is inherently flawed having the wrong crown/stem/tube height in the first place. Modern 6 digit Rolex reps with 2824-2 or the 3135/3130/3132 superclone movements generally should have the correct crown/stem/tube height like gen (with some exceptions, e.g. bp factory 16600 still has the wrong crown/stem/tube height even though it has a 2824-2 in it)

I recommend you have a look at the latest Noob Factory 116622 yachtmaster threads (this watch comes with 2824-2 movement or SA3135 rolex clone movement), it should blow your mind and 2813 away.. and the cost/time spent buying that and wearing it out-of-the-box is much more worthwhile than to upgrade a 2813 yachtmaster imo

thanks for your well considered responses, that repgeek link is dead btw. I cannot seem to find that Noob Factory 116622 yachtmaster on here, is there a catalogue with images somewhere, sorry if this is a dumb question as new to all this?

try it again now it works

There is a trusted dealer section and you can find their websites for some of the dealers e.g. intime, puretime, chazingtime
https://forum.replica-watch.info/#trusted-dealers.486

e.g..
https://www.intime01.co/rollie/2794...t-edition-gray-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a2824.html

The 116622 from Noob is sold with A2824-2 movement or SA3135
Both movements have their strength and weakness - it depends on what you aim to achieve. You can try reading what their strengths and weaknesses first

If you want to buy a watch, email the trusted dealer what you want and they will provide further payment instructions and QC. You can find their emails in the trusted dealer section. All trusted dealers can source the same stock

This seems worth a punt for the price http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Automatic...427777?hash=item2f0772d001:g:1OEAAOSwpHFZaKVL but i assume i'll have to source hands to suit and even then it might not fit the case?

Hands are interchangeable for Miyota 8215 / DG 8213 so no need to source extra hands. ETA movements would be another story
That looks too cheap to be a genuine Japanese Miyota but if you only care about making your watch work again, then go for it

Cheapest genuine Miyota movement
