Once upon a time I had a sub. I got it from Lucy, loved the style and size, so sold it to a guy I work with and bought a TC.

As often happens, the sub is back, but in significantly poorer health than when it left  the date no longer changed over at midnight and would not adjust with the crown.

I opened her up, removed the hands and dial and found this:

Oh dear. He has written the watch off and said something like 'take it to bits if you like'... At least I am fairly sure that's what he said  so now I have a movement that looks like this:

And some teeny tiny pieces that look like this:

Can anyone please
:wyliehelp: my main problem is the gold wheel and silver plate (top left and top right) on the above pic and refitting these Into the circular cutout area on the 2nd pic. Thanks for any guidance you can give, cause it would be great if I can get this going again

Having sat on this for some time :D I have spent this evening putting this clone movement back together.

I have made some decent progress and reassembled the calendar driving wheel (this had come completely apart) and completed the remaining re-assembly but still have two problems:

1) the calendar driving wheel (part 2555) has popped apart again so I guess I need a new one as it looks like it is just going to fall to pieces each time
2) The date jumper maintaining plate (part 2595) partially covers the intermediate date wheel (part 2543) and it looks to me like this plate stops the intermediate date wheel from lifting off its peg, however the plate does not stop it lifting slightly and as a result it disconnects from the drive wheel when manually adjusting the date via the crown, so it looks like I need a new date jumper maintaining plate as well

Has anyone else had a similar problem with these parts?

I can order a new calendar driving wheel from cousins UK, but they don't appear to stock the jumper maintaining plate :(

Thanks in advance for any advice/guidance from far more competent movement tinkerers than me :D

Your calendar driving wheel is broken and missing an internal spring. It needs to be replaced.

I will remove the date wheel, continue disassembly and post a couple more photos just to make sure nothing else is adrift in the date change area

Right, the new calendar driving wheel has arrived :D

Now time to put it back together and I would appreciate some advice @Ko67 @DR3M3L Having removed the date wheel and date jumper retaining plate and date jumper spring, I now have this view with part of the old calendar driving wheel still in place :

My question - is this how the bottom of the new calendar driving wheel should align with the wrench shaped spring loaded arm?

Photo of the bottom of the new calendar driving wheel here:

Any guidance on how to now install the replacement wheel would be appreciated

The good news, now we are getting somewhere! Got the calendar driving wheel fitted and all put back together.

The bad news, I cant have the spring aligned properly as the tension builds as I turn the crown anti-clockwise in the time set position, but when it releases it stops a tiny fraction short of the date wheel teeth, instead of carrying on and flipping the date to the next day :(

You can see where it stops in the below pic:

WTF am I doing wrong, someone please :help:

and the same pic with the tab that should push the date wheel to the next day highlighted with an arrow, showing its 'sprung' position...

Now progress is being made. Having taken the datewheel and gear off this movement more times than I have had a hot dinner (OK, slight exaggeration) I think I can now put one of these back together blindfold :D

Success! The date changes and the watch is back together

However (isn't there always) there is one small problem, the 1st time the date changed at midnight, the next time at 10 past, the next at 20 past, then half past and so on.

Does anyone know why the date change would slip by roughly 10 minutes every day?

A damaged tooth on the dategear or slipping hands?

I think the problem lies in the double jumper ( 2784) check the end of the Spring when you have changed the date, if you look closely its "v" shaped. After date change both sides of the V should be in contact with the teeth of the date wheel.

the tension on this spring is quite critical, to much and you won't change the date by the crown, not enough it may display symptoms as you are describing.
