bought a breitling navtimer (White)about 8 weeks ago and it was clean and now there seems to be lots of dust and tiny bits on and around the watch face. how can this be when it was clean when I bought it??
It was very clean when purchased . can that stuff just apear sometimes?
I'm sending it off for service and clean after Christmas anyway but it seems very strange as I have no idea were it has come from

Can you show a pic?

Never happened to me but if the movement is dusty, then it's possible that the dust moved over to the dial.

That is quite dirty indeed. Do they assemble those watches in dirty basements or what?

This happened to both my BP Navi Worlds. No dust/debris upon arrival, but after a few turns of the bezel, lots of crap appeared.

It seems as though rotating the bezel rubs some of the indices and paint under the bezel and spits it out onto the dial.

I took mine apart, removed the movement and cleaned the dial. Not too big of a deal, but annoying.

Happened to both of mine too and as ernie says not too big a job but you'll obviously need something to remove the caseback, then its a case of removing the stem and movement holders then gently removing the movement. I took a long term view and invested in some decent watch screwdrivers, good tweezers, a watch case holder, dust blower and a very soft small sable paint brush to sweep out the bits where the crysyal and bezel meet. Also wear surgical gloves (non powdered) and get some Rodico. Give yourself plenty of room and a clean and clear work space. Also allow twice as much time as you ever think you'll need as time disappears into a black hole when you're messing with watches.

Mine came with little flecks of dirt like that. As others have said, remove the movement and give the case and dial a good clean and all should be good.

So did you buy yours from, & Would they have cleaned it up for you ? Is this the norm with Breitlings

Normally happens after wearing for a while and not worth sending back to have it cleaned. Did it myself or you can also ask a watchsmith to do it for you if you can find one

BP factory, to answer your previous question, within the 48 hours after parcel was delivered my maker would take it back (depending on the conditions of the dealer). However the new one will have dust too! Anyway it is not worth spending 50€ to ship it back, it's an easy thing to do. I'm making a tutorial on how to clean the dust(with pictures). I had to do it twice as dust was coming out again (I turn the bezel a lot because I use it to pilot). It is also good upon arrival to open the case back as the seal was misplaced on mine, and put it better (I had a little bit of condensation on the inside of the bezel). Now the dust is gone and I can take a shower with it.

That's great if you can do it yourself. I can't even get someone to change a battery on my Invictas and keep it watertite without spending $80.00 to send it to Invicta
