Hello Everyone,

I hope you PAM guys are doing well.
I spent quite some time reading various threads here but this section of RWI is so rich that it is very hard to get a comprehensive view unless being a PAM addict which I am not... yet.
Following a stupid accident my ceramic seiko is dead which leaves me without any "diving" watch.
I thoufgt about buying a gen panerai for years but prices kept me away so far, but reps seem to be so good that it would be a pity not to go for one!

My priorities are :
- As robust as possible mechanism (ETA ? Japanese ? others easy to service? no quartz)
- As similar as possible to Gen obviously
- Power reserve as generous as possible
- Look wise I dislike the sub type but pretty much opened to others (liking for instance 384, 531, 233, 526, 661, 689...).

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Read Ale's reviews: go for something you think you like.

Buy it, wear for a while then re-sell.

repeat...

Stick with hand wind 6497, simple and about as durable as you can get. I love my 111. Bought it on a whim, but fell for it in person.

You might want to narrow it down a little further..

What size case? There is 40-52mm.

Case type? luminor vs radiomir?

What type of material would you be open to: ceramic, ss, titanium, carbotech, etc?

if it helps, ill give you the rundown on how I made my choice.

when I finally decided to get a PAM, i looked up various models.
im a big dive watch fan, so that made it easier to narrow things down.
I looked up submersible models and made a list of the ones i might want.
then I looked up those model numbers in ALE7575's PAM guide and read about them.
I eventually decided on the 243m because it made the list as a "super rep". (that may or may not be important to you)
then it was just a matter of finding one for sale, and boom! ready for the wristshots!

rinse and repeat as necessary.

ALE's PAM guide really helped. I definitely recommend checking it before any PAM rep purchase! I kinda feel like we should be sending ALE7575 a few $$ each time we his guide to pick a PAM rep...

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a Panerai 1950 from? I like the one which has 1950 written near the 6 o'clock part.

You want a diving watch but you don't like the sub type ?

As weird as it could sound, yes. I am more into Radiomir as it fits both casual and more strict outfit.

I dont really care about matter ; ss, ceramic, carbotech (661!) ... are all fine, i am more focused on getting most robust mecanism with good power reserve in a super rep case.

111 is probably the best choice for a first buy but I find it a bit boring.

If not a 111, how about a 253?

The 029 is not for everyone though, being a 47mm version. I know a 44mm version is as far as I can go wihout it looking too big.
