I got my neptune series 2 a few years back. Ive been wearing it much of the time for commutes riding my scooter. I love the watch and how subtle it looks.
Domed hesalite crystal is amazing, yes it gets scratches easily but these are hairline scratches and adds tramendous character to the watch in my opinion. Got to polish the crystal once just to try out how effective the polywatch polish it comes with. Legebility is ok on most conditions. Lume is bright and lasts ok. Finish is ok, the brushed parts can be improved on.
My gripes about this watch would be firstly majority of the edges. Lug and bracelet edges are sharp and can dig in to your wrist a bit. Slapped a leather strap and now the lugs are the only concern. Actually thinking of filing it down a bit. I read the new bracelet on the series 4 improved on this and made them a bit rounded on the edges. Not sure with the lugs. Another thing is the crown, its big. Its fine with most people i guess, but i wear my watch on the right. And it digs up on your wrist badly. I just got used to it but sometimes would take it off because of it. So if you are a right hand wearer, maybe you should also consider this? Its the only big crown in my collection and i dont have any problems with my other “normally” sized crown watches.
Overall im happy with it, wear it on rotation on commutes now with my gshock gw-5000u and mrg-1.
