Hey guys, long time lurker (well for a bout a month lol) and interested now again in watches
Used to wear watches a lot 10-15 years ago and once cell phones with time in them came out, I stopped wearing watches.

Now I'm back and recently discovered Panerai and I'm in love. I have a PVD Homage one 44MM 1950 case and I just love it.

Been looking into a lot of the models and I'm narrowing down the ones I like. Basically 351, 359, 422, 382 and 569.

This will be my first ever Rep so if all goes well then I will start getting others.

For my first purchase I will go with the PAM 351.

I looked up ALE7575 's guide and I gathered that the below are the best reps:

-ZFac V2 P-series w/decorated A7750 NON-inverted ZP9000-V2

-KW-V6Fac V3 Q-series w/decorated Seagull NON-inverted KP9000-Seagull V2
(*)
http://www.intime.co/panerai/2013-pam351-p-v6f-1-1-best-edition-on-brown-leather-strap-p9000.html

So I'm thinking of going with Seagull one since it is cheaper and best option according to Ale7575

What do you guys think? Will purchase from intime

The seagull is cheaper and a lot more reliable than a 7750. Go for it! [emoji106]

I just bought the ZF and the V6 models... The ZF 7750 wouldn't hold a charge, the rotor would spin freely and I assuming the "stop click" was missing. The colors on the ZF were, in my opinion, better than the V6.

The V6 with the seagull, the rotor doesn't seem to spin freely. I can wear it all day, and with constant flicks of the wrist, I can only get the power reserve up to 5 hours.

I've since decided to try a PAM 111 and see if I have more luck with the hand wound models. Good luck!

That is not exactly true. At this point there are so many opinions floating around, it's all up to the buyer. But after having worked with both, I personally will never own a 2555 power watch. There have been countless good and bad reviews of both, but all I know is that the seagull has more moving parts. I can't factually claim it's less reliable, but those extra transfers do cause the second hand stutter that's been talked about.

Of course I will defer to your wisdom as I only know through my limited experience with very specific watches.

You guys are worrying me now, with currency conversion that comes up to $400 CAD which is quiet a lot of money only to have it stop working then deal with the hassle of sending it back etc etc

Yeah, it's tough game. I'm in Canada as well, and well those two 351's that I have are essentially sunk costs at this stage (about 750 dollars)...

I like the 1950 case more than the base case and other than chronos/gmt there is no hand winding 1950 case in 44MM
I can do a 47MM but I wanted to do that later on since the strap size is different and I already have a bunch of 24MM straps for my homage watch :(

Is it $400 for the seagull or 7750?

seagull
$US 238 + 35 shipping to Canada
US to CAD rate exchange comes up to $CAD 364.32 and if I pay with western union Canada since I won't give them my cc , that is an extra $15 so everything comes up close to $400

In reality, it's like Russian Roulette. But there is a higher chance of getting a good working movement than a bad one. I've bought more than 30+ reps and so far none of them have crapped out. That's for both A7750 and Seagull movement powered watches.

You think you're in it for 400CAD? Just wait until you get hooked in. You'll spend much more than that. And we're not even going to go into straps yet.

Exactly, I have serviced a st2555 yesterday and I would always prefer a A7750.
The A7750 without the chrono module is a good movement.

I would prefer the Seagull due to the lower price and more accurate position of the Balance wheel: Regarding reliability I assume that an A7750 without chrono function (as commented by chris3007 ) could be as reliable as a Seagull. But mi only opinion means nothing because there are a lot of opinions, even from more authorized members (like Strodda) and ever different tastes.

Anyway, as commented by mysterio, a rep movement is like a Russian Roulette, usually the movement will work correctly but sometimes you can get a bad movement either A7750 or Seagull.
Therefore I would recommend to read about both movements, take your own decision and try to pull the trigger when the bullet is not in the gun chamber.
