Hi, Im buying a 111 noob v3 from seab. I've taken advice of members and got it on the rubber strap (with a view to buying a nice strap).
which leads me to my next question, do you have strap suggestions for this watch? I like a sort of mid-tan I think. something maybe a bit like these?

$20 is not enough for anything good. You can probably pick up a used rep strap for around that price.

Once u buy a good strap... u will nvr look back. I was like you, but I realize the rep quality is so good but the strap is so not on par.

OOFT! It's a rep watch, don't think my budget for a strap would be much over $20!!

You'd be surprised at how good bespoke straps can cost. Then again i am the type of person who doesn't care about swapping straps around, i only have the one and i am fine with spoiling myself on it. Other people do like swapping their straps around for different occasions and that's fine, but those straps are still not cheap and their collections are huge. Also, i'd be able to use it for a genuine when i save up for it.

The strap is an important part of the watch that most people overlooked. A lousy strap will allow people to identify your watch and deem it as fake from far but an high end strap maybe mid end from $70-90 bucks can increase the looks of the watch and make it look more gen like. The 111 is already near perfect in terms of the watch head, why get a crappy strap when you can go for something good and make it more perfect.

I had the thought like you until my rep strap smells like ewww then I Realised this OEM rep strap is shit I need a change

Hi, 4me these are absolute tops, specially they are handmade by Jose Maria in Spain for about 1/2 of what I see elsewhere - £50 - and the quality is rustical/tops http://cbstraps.blogspot.pt/

Advice taken on board folks! A lot of the straps posted are gorgeous but slightly "rugged". I'm hoping to use this watch as my daily driver but I dress relatively smart and not sure the real "manly" super-thick straps would suit my slimmer build. Is there a nice strap that is slightly dressier without being too dressy?

Panatime is a good choice if you want something not too expensive.
Or you can have a gorgeous croc from Orloff for around 100 usd, this has never been unmounted since I got it:

Guilty - I've spent well over 1k for straps for my 3 pams. Shopping for more, just can't find navy blue horn back in stock anywhere :(. It's 90% of the experience in my opinion. Both in terms of looks as well as how the watch feels on your wrist, which counts for how you wear it. I pick my watch strap first, this drives the shoes and belt. Then I pick a suit, which drives a shirt and tie, which drives the actual watch itself. So yeah, I love my straps :).

Great thread as I myself have been wondering what everyone would recommend.

Search around the forums for good ideas, look at the Which PAM combo have you chosen today thread for some inspiration. I've had my 111 for about 5 months now and have 3 straps I constantly swap: the rep rubber that came with the watch, a custom light tan made from a vintage Rawlings baseball mitt (pretty unique and a good conversation piece when I wear it out to the ball game or bar), and a darker brown Caitlin 4 from Peter Gunny- hands down my favorite strap of the bunch. I highly recommend Peter's work- as many others here would as well. Quality straps may cost a bit more, but you do get what you pay for.

Just like buying a quality rep- you could buy one from some random guy on the street in Asia, New York, wherever- but this forum helps you make educated decisions so you don't get scammed and get a quality product for a reasonable price.

I agree about getting a good strap. The rep straps are like pvc covered cardboard. Beginning with a fairly decent strap, made entirely from leather, the watch feels completely transformed. It demonstrates such a difference in quality from the cheap straps that there is no going back. It's one of the best things about PAM reps that while everyone falls over each other to find gen parts on other brands, you can be busy buying the same quality straps that gen owners buy , and appreciate them in the same way.

If you already have a buckle, you can leave that off (although make sure it is the right size for the thickness of some straps). I find that Strap Culture is pretty good as you can get a rep discount and order without buckle, they are in stock for the most part, and ship immediately. Cost, with discount can be in the 60's-70's. Check out the straps on the site (24mm) size under the various sections to see what you think. http://strapculture.com/home.html

Here is a video of a strap reviewer on Youtube and makes for good viewing, at least to see some quality straps.

@Chronicvoice, Can I ask where you got the Baseball Rawlings strap from. I have been looking around for one for a while?

Actually I found it on eBay a few months ago. I've noticed several strap makers will custom make them for you, but if you're patient you can get a quality strap on eBay or etsy for an extremely good deal. Most people are willing to do special requests as well.

my advice would be camping at the strap central in our forum. From time to time you will find amazing deals that are relatively cheap. IF you don't mind it 2nd handed but 2nd handed means patina has been kicked in for you. You get a softer and a nicer colour strap for maybe half the price he paid for

Order a 3mm thick strap from one of our makers. You'll be very please. They will help you decide what will work best for you.
