Looking for my 2nd Pam rep. 288k or 253?

My first rep pam just arrived today from puretime. Great experience, fast shipping and no customs hassles. I am ready for my second one. I have been researching the hell out of PAM's recently and came up with my "most wanted" list. At the top of it is the Pam288k and the Pam253.

Which one do you guys suggest? I know the Pam288k is a super rep and the 253 is not, only because of the non flyback mov't. Which one is cosmetically closer to a gen? Which one would be more reliable for daily wear? Any issues with the radiomir strap mounting system? I will eventually buy both, just which one should I order tonight?

When was the latest version of the 253 released? The newest one on the Puretime site shows it was added in 2011. Is that the right version?

288k for me, but I've always felt it is a dressier watch, not an everyday beater...it is also a super rep...

I like the 288, plus it gives you something else to wear other than a direct Pam, someone will smell that you are collecting reps if you show up with a bunch of different PAM models on.

If you are looking for an everyday beater, go for the 111 for manual, or the 299 for auto, and switch out the band on the 299 for a rep rubber, or a gen rubber with a rep tang buckle (gen tang buckles are ridiculously overpriced). thats just my opinion.

I recently sold a couple Gen Breitlings, so showing up with a coupe new/used Pams would not raise any suspicion. :thumbsup:

I was leaning towards the 288 too, but the 253 is so beautiful.

The 288 is my choice. I'm actually considering selling my current one just to get a shiny brand spanking new one. It's definitely closer to gen then 253 and is very versatile as it looks great with a suit or jeans.
I've even contemplated buying a used gen 288, but the only thing stopping me is that I'll get it and will look so identical to the rep I'll be disappointed I spent so much money on it.

It depends on what you are looking for.

If you want accuracy. PAM 288 is more accurate because it has solid caseback and dial is more perfect than PAM 253 dial with PANER_AI issue.
But if you like the shape and textured dial of PAM 253 you had better buying a PAM 253.
They both are really nice

You really will finsh buying both in the future. So, no worries about

Very important: you must buy the model made by H maker for both models. No other one !! Consult your dealer about that.

I only noticed the Paner_ai on the 253 dial after you mentioned it. Do all versions have this problem?

I think it really depends on how the radiomir sits on your wrist vs the luminor. I had a 288k and a 292k. I love how they looked but they just didn't feel right on my wrist so I'm sticking to luminor style cases.

So I would chose the 253.

288 looks more vintage while the 253 looks dressy and/or sporty. I went with the 253 and no regrets!
