Looking for a good 112

I've built a few 47mm 1950's reps from Getat parts but the final product always left me a bit disappointed. They looked nice but definitely lacked the quality feel. The edges of the CG are too sharp, the CG lever flops around too much, etc. I'd like to get a convincing 112 that will allow me to really know if I'd like to save up for the gen some day (I know I'm never getting a gen 127 so that's why I'm looking at 112s lol). I don't want to get too carried away on a big dollar modded rep but I want something that is noticeably a cut above what I have now. Would a 112 from Toro Bravo, for example, be my best bet or should I look into something else?

Thanks!

The Noob 112N from Toro would definitely be a good choice. Super-rep quality at M-series already. I am not quite sure what improved on the N-series. Inquire about the crown guard. It should have sharp inside corners. Other than that, everything looks fine. :)

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying the gen has sharp inside corners on the CG? That's actually the most annoying trait of my Getat, it literally scrapes skin off my fingers when I wind it and the skin builds up down in that recess by the crown lol.

Toro said they are out of stock now... possibly 2-3 weeks until they have them back. Based on what I read on here about TD's not actually stocking watches but getting them as needed, I'm guessing this would imply that all TD's would be in the same position right now (i.e. waiting for the factory to make more) ?

I ran into the same issue when I inquired. If you do find they are in stock be sure to post it!

Hont was out too. I ended up buying a 111 and converting the second hand to so I could run it as a base mvt

COLDI, do you have any pics to show what you mean? I'm assuming you sourced a 112 style dial then too?

I sourced a 114 dial. There are two ways to do it. Replace the second cannon pin from ofrei or file it down with jeweled file and use Rodco I get the shavings off which is what I did.

I've got a Noob 112M and it is beautiful, the only real improvement I've seen with the N is the sharper inside corners on the CG as previously mentioned. It has a decent weight to it and, when combined with a nice strap, feels very 'gen-like'.

It seems like Noob are short on Panerai movements at the moment, so I suspect they're busy building other models which are more popular at the moment, hopefully Toro will be able to sort you out with one in the next few weeks though. I bought mine from him and he is a great dealer.
