I got this movement for service...it looks like an ETA 28xx but there is no ETA stamp at the main plate...what do you think?

Is this the 2836 copy movement from China? Like the one that we saw in the $99 sub from River?

I heard of a factory who ran out of swiss 2892's and was told to use fake 2892's instead.

Could be an old ETA since parts from a 2836-2 fits

what seems odd to me is the plating was evidently done with the dial post clamps installed... as anubis said, spray paint?

I am not 100% confident, but I believe this to be a ETA that was stamped with the AR (Racine/Enicar) mark, and likely marketed under one of those brands.

There was some sort of business transaction in the 60's that resulted in the sale of the movement business unit of Enicar to ETA

Ziggy said this could be an old stock re-stamped ETA movement.
