Longines 215 Electra

My grandfather bought this watch in Las Vegas in the 1970's. He always prized it thinking it was a Gen. I did too actually and had it serviced... only to discover it is a replica. Notice that Longines is spelled incorrectly as Longine. Believe it or not it still works!

Anyone see anything like this one before? Or have any knowledge of 'vintage replicas?'
