Long time PAM rep owners, how long do you expect one to last?

How long do you expect your PAM rep to last and what might one do to squeeze life out of it?

Hi. I guess it depends on a few variables. Firstly it will depend on the quality and reliability of the movement. Secondly it depends on how often you wear it. Possibly, thirdly, it depends on how you look after it. I myself have 5 Pams that I try to wear with some rotation. This helps to,at least preserve the cosmetics. I also have bought higher end reps with better quality movements. Thus far, over the last year and a half my collection is still running strong and looking good.

With maintenance, my 177 should last forever.

I'm still wearing a 111 rep that I bought five years ago. Sure, I've bought more "up to date" versions as they've become available, but I've always held onto that first one. On top of that,I didn't even buy it new. I got it M2M on another forum. RG I believe. Who knows how old it really is. But it is still going strong. So some last quite a while. That's not to say that I haven't stashed a few unworn 111n V3's away for a rainy day.... You never know, right. I would just read as much as I could about care and service...And possibly pick up a daily beater.

We cannot say how long will last a Mercedes
Imagine talking about reps....
No offense here, but as you can see your question is a little illogical

If you get your watches serviced in time and don't smack em around too often, you will enjoy for many years.

The oldest PAM rep in my collection a PAM111 from PWC from a few years back (may he rest in peace), just a few winds and it's ticking once more. ;)

I see no reason why they should not last as long as you last. Spare movements are readily available if it should completely fail. Other than this it's a watch like all others...case, case back, dial, hands, crystal. I treat all my watches well. None have a scratch for the most part and they all run without issue. My oldest rep is a MBW great white that I bought from TTK 8 years ago...still runs like a top.

Thanks for the responses. Illogical perhaps, but it's good to know that I didn't get a bunch of responses like stating a year or two. Sure there are variables, but I have no context. Cars I do.

Thanks again!

I'll do some searches, but very curious on any servicing that should be done on a watch that runs. One that stops running, sure (or get a new one...:)

Would you drive your car until it dies on you, and then get it serviced?
No, you get it serviced every 10000 or 15000 miles, even if the engine still runs good.
To prolong the life of the engine and keep it in good health.

It's excactly the same with mechanical watches.
It's all moving parts in there, and just like in a car engine they need a service every few years to keep it in good health and running strong.

Hey guys, zero offense taken! I will do more searches on how to find someone to service the watch (I read one already) and what to ask them to do. I have a PAM 111 v3 Noob and really like it. Of course started dreaming of others and thought I should ask about longevity before jumping in the deep end.

Maintenance 10-15k? Try I change my own oil every 3,500... :)

The question is not illogical if framed correctly...

A reliable watch can be built with the right parts coupled with a certain degree of skill and attention to detail, it will last many years.

Ale doesn't build so his authority is limited on this topic.
