Hi Panerai Experts,

I bought my first PAM replica. It was quite nice piece with nice finishing.

But one of the drewback is that the lever could not lock touch the crown surface during the lock more, causing the lever to be loose during the lock mode.

I have tried filling up the gap with my wife's clear nail polish into surface crown but it fails as it has air bubble being trapped.

How can i resolve the problem by have the lever to touch and lock on the crown surface?

Thanks. [smilie=angel13.gif]

Wow, Im gonna need pics for this one... At first I thought that the part that actually pushes the crown in was too short... But then you started talking about nail polish and I thought maybe you were talking about the lever pin.
I cant imagine how clear nail polish would help either situation.
Post some pics, there are PLENTY of Panerai experts here.

OK. will take some picture.

This is beacuse the crown surface is not the flat type. there is a big big hole like a big cup. That is why i fill the nail polish to fill up the gap.....to level out the surface....

At cbr, what happened was that the locking lever is not contacting tthe crown as it is filed too short.

That is what I first thought...
My suggestion would be NEW CROWN...
My second suggestion would be find a thin piece of aluminum, either carefully cut it or have someone cut it and then JB weld it in. If you float about .5mm JB weld in the cup of the crown, a piece of aluminum as thin as a soda can would cover that up and give the look of steel.
With using a piece of aluminum from a coke can, you can cut it yourself with a pair of sharp scissors. Just cut it EXACT to the interior circumference of the crown and your set.

it is a t60 crown, i don't think he will get a new crown, but your idea of using a aluminum can cut out is pure genius ::)

I am pretty damn good and fixing broken stuff... I learned that in the USMC when we were putting together "reinforced" Hum V's so we could go out the gate without worrying about getting blowed up!

These little "fixes" are usually one part thought and two parts good luck.
I took a look a the crown on my 111 and I really do think that would work. You would not need a full .5mm of JB weld (I suggest JB weld because it doesnt dry instantly and it can be floated in and leveled out nicely). I would wait until it was tacky but starting to settle and then lay the aluminum on top of it. I dont think you would be able to see it at all if the circle was cut accurately enough.

No idea if I can put this in words properly....

1) Unscrew CG
2) Use sandpaper to slightly shorten both the "legs"/contacts of the CG

You might want to constantly check the "flatness" of the contacts, just in case the contacts are too flat and don't "hug" the casing.

Using a Dremel helps :D

I have an extra CG with lever for Marina Militare, the hole and screw is too small to fit the rep case but the lever might be long enough to replace your old lever. PM me if you're interested.

Yes, i think i prefer a new crown....but i have no idea to look for a new one....and the worse, replacing it by myself......

was it being filed too short, i thought the problem was due to the crown which is not the flat surface type....that was why the lever was unable to contact it..

The cup of the crown is quite thick. maybe 2 mm.

Why not simply replace the winding stem? 6497 stems are cheap and are REALLY long, so just buy a replacement stem and cut it to fit.

DON'T replace the t60 crown unless you are going to replace it with a t48 crown, as nearly everything else will be a step backward in visual accuracy.
