Lemania Manual Wind Movements

Couple quick questions about this movement.

1. How many times should you wind the watch before you wear it? I mean I usually just wind my other watches 15 to 20 times before I set the time then the watch would wind itself.

2. What is the power reserve for the ST-19 movement. I know for the Gen movement ( Cal 1863) is 48 hours.

Well I guess that's about it. Glad to be apart of the "moonie" club. :)

Thanks Dave

Wind it till you feel the resistance like any other hand wound movement.

You should be able to get 24-36 hours out of a rep movement, 42 is not unheard of. depends on the movement and it's quality.

Thanks for the tip Bonesey. I actually did not know that you could start to feel resistance. (Guess I was scared of over winding) This is my first hand wind movement watch and I did not want to screw anything up.

You don't have to worry about over winding its not possible to over wind its not a spring that winds its actually a long and very thin flat metal sheet that is coiled around that gives power, I can't think of the technical terms right now. :banghead:

Watch spring (which I would call a coil rather than a spring)

What they mean when they say overwind is the "spring"slips and won't stay hooked into the side of the barrel then the coil just spins.

That generally only happens on automatics to avoid overwinding. On manual wind watches there isn't a clutch. At least not that I've heard of. But it would take far more force that you are able to apply in order to snap the spring.

Just for the record..>>

The movement in a rep manual wind Omega chrono is NOT a Lemania, no matter WHAT the TD's might tell you.....It's a Seagull ST-19....:maty::maty:

Is it not called a main spring? Or sometimes hairspring?
