I figured I’d share my thoughts after getting this build from the famous Legend.
I own a number of genuine watches (AP, Rolex, Cartier, etc) and after the prices went crazy in 2020/21, I decided it didn’t make sense to buy anything new anytime soon.
A friend of mine purchased a ZF 15500 recently and after seeing it I was very impressed with the overall watch, but the dial was flat and it was very rough to the touch. Just looking at the dial, I immediately knew it wasn’t “real”.
However, I asked him how he got it, he turned me on to RWI and I began researching. After finding out about Legend’s work, I reached out to him about a 15202 build and he agreed to help.
I followed his recommendations re: factory, custom dial, and the bevel/polishing work. I also asked he service the movement, so the watch worked in good order.
About 6 weeks later, I had the build in hand.
My thoughts: his work is very impressive.
The watch feels much better and the custom dial to me is required to wear these around anyone who knows anything about these watches.
Is the dial perfect? No, but it’s MUCH better than the factory and it’s pleasant to look at.
Overall, the watch feels a little light, but it looks great and I’m not afraid of it getting worn by normal wear (like my beat up gen).
I’ve added some pics with the gen rose gold 15400, so you could see how both dials react to light. I shot a video of this, but don’t know how to upload it here.
Many people will say it’s a lot of money to spend on a rep, but to me if you’re not going to buy a dial, it’s probably not worth it to buy the rep at all.
