I'll post this here as it is of most interest to Panerai owners I think.
I decided to try to make a heavy duty leather NATO/G-10 strap.

First I took the fittings from an old Rhino/Zulu/Waterbourne style strap, this one is only 20mm wide but it's all I had,

I then just copied the construction of the nylon strap, sew in the end link first,

I beveled the edge on the leather so it would lay flatter,

Then marked the stitching,

And sewed a line of sadle stitch,

Then we fold the leather over and cut in the buckle,

Sew that in and add a second loop, I sewed a box between the second loop and the final lop for security but lines would work also,

The last loop in place and we're nearly done,

This really is a quick project, the leather I used was just over 2mm thick and is too thick for most watches but I think it would work on Panerai, I'm looking for some 26mm loops so I can try one for the big Panerai!

I hope it's helpful,
Peter

I am also interested in this kind of strap but never seen information on length that is suitable for wrist size. This is first time I have seen this information on this strap.

Also could you give more photo how it will be like on wrist. Can you also give some dimension of the distanc from each steel holder on each point.

Thanks.

Wrist shot?

GC, make some of these in 26mm and I'll buy one or two. I'm just too damned busy/lazy to undertake that project, but I think it would look the biz on some of those fixed wire lug vintage Radiomirs...

Enzo is correct, these are not the best straps. Indeed the one pictured I could not fit to any of the watches I have here.

Thank you so much Enzo and Peter for your information. Very good explanation on using the strap.
