The wife wanted a quartz watch since she could not handle keeping her Submariner running. Since I was getting a Tag she decided she wanted one too and picked the ladies Link with the black dial. I don't know if this is a fantasy watch or if it's a rep of an older version of the watch. The current black dial Link has a bezel with etched numbers. This version is plain polished silver, similar to the versions that have diamonds as the hour markers. The pink, blue or white dial versions also have the polished plain bezel.

The watch looked great when I unwrapped it. The first problem was when I tried to open the clasp. I nearly tore off my thumb nail it was so tight. Once that was open I immediately noticed the band was VERY stiff. Several of the links were just jammed together and would not move without considerable motivation. I oiled the band but that didn't help. I applied some oil with an abrasive powder in it and worked the stiff links for what seemed like hours. This eventually loosened them up. They are still not as loose as they should be but at least they move now. From what I can tell the band is not correct to the gen though. On the gen every other link is polished and this one is all brushed stainless. Again this might be correct for an older version but not the current model.

The clasp was a whole other issue. I nearly sent the watch back because of it. There was no way to open it without jamming a screwdriver or something into it. I filed, sanded and bent the the thing until I finally got it working in some sort of reasonable manor. I can't believe this left the factory like this. My advice if you are considering one of these is to ask the seller to check the operation of the clasp. That will mean they must peel of all that protective plastic but it will be worth it to get a clasp that actually works. I'm also not sure how the hell you would adjust this thing. There is no adjustment on the clasp and I don't see any way to remove a link.

Of course she does not know I spent 4 hours in the garage dicking with this thing. She just knows it looks great. We saw a nearly identical watch at Costco yesterday (with a pink dial), I think it was around $1200, so she is happy as a pig in mud. It's a nice looking watch on her wrist and if the clasp and band issues were solved I'd buy her another one.

Very nice watch, wonder how it looks on the wrist? Was the strap too big or small?

my wife has several versions of this watch. pink MOP, blue MOP with diamond bezel & a white dial tiger woods edition.

she loves them but her biggest complaint is the clasp. its really really tough to release and even i find it difficult. she's broken a few nails trying to pry the clasp open so now she just uses a metal fork to release the clasp.

The way that watch arrived the clasp was useless. My thumb still hurts, I can barely open my sub it hurts so bad. I spent hours bending and filing the clasp to get it operating in a reasonable manor. I took a dremel and ground out quite a bit of the locking tab so it would not jam against the side of the clasp. The fit of the clasp is just horrendous. My wife would never put up with jamming a fork or something into it to get it open, and to be honest neither would I. I realize this is a rep but I can buy a thousand $100 watches with clasps that operate perfectly.

Yes, the clasp/bracelet on these ladies rep Tag Heur Link watches can be a problem. Yours appears to have been a worst case situation.

As far as the clasp goes, your second photo shows the clasp. At the top there are three holes. The second from the left is intended to hold a very small bearing that acts as a roller so the clasp overhang part that fits over it will lock. Your bearing appears to be missing, but you also had more extensive issues complicating the situation. The watch I received was also missing the bearing, causing the locking part of the clasp to dislodge freely. I ended up just tightening the overhang to achieve a friction fit. Not perfect, but manageable. Now if I could just find somewhere to obtain extra links...but that's a different issue.

For resizing the bracelet, this is the best link I could find. It is a pretty good reference on that topic, good photos and description. Maybe it will help someone who searches RWI for that issue as it seems to be somewhat esoteric.

Good luck. It's a nice watch once it gets sized and fitted properly.

I got my wife the black one with the diamonds on the dial and the turning bezel. She worn it for a year or so and then I ended up getting her a gen. Then I got this one for my daughter. It came brushed, but in the end I ended up polishing the whole thing. ;)

The clasps have always been a problem. The link removal shown in the link by Max (Hi Max and Thanks!) is the way to do it. The pink model pictured is on the bench right as we speak. She put a chip in the crystal but it's not really noticeable. It's getting a new battery and more polishing. She gets compliments on it quite frequently.

If you want to really loosen up the links you have to be aggressive on the polishing and dismantle it piece by piece as far up as you can go.

I just bought my Mum one of these and I have to say how pleased I was with the quality and accuracy of it.

I got her the Mother of pearl dial with CZ markers and bezel. Looks classy but doesnt draw attention like a datejust or Chopard might not just from friends etc as a rep/fake but also from those twats that think its hard to rob old ladies.

Main thing is my Mum loves it!
