Hi guys,

My KW 312 O version 2 is about 3 months old and the rotor suddenly stopped two days ago ..it appears like its jammed but if you shave it hard it does move from its position.

Any inputs what I can do? It was running around 2-3 mins late everyday right from the start.

Thanks

Ah yes, another seagull movement bites the dust. I had the same issue with my 359. I just wind it now like a manual watch.

Have you had a rep-friendly watchsmith look at it? There really might be something jamming the rotor that only some hard shaking will dislodge (but eventually it will return to that location since it's not fixed like it's supposed to). A friend's rep had exactly that same situation. Turns out one of the glued plates came off. Reglued it back in, now runs fine. :)

I just ordered a Pam571 with Seagull movement and I hope I don't get the same issue. How wide spread is this occurrence on Seagull movements?

Another potential issue is that the rotor just came loose, since its not actually attached to the movement.

I had the same issue with my KW351 then I got over it by just winding it manually but overtime that also stopped working (for some reason the winding became very tight and it just stopped winding).. I would suggest to go to a rep friendly watchsmith and refrain from winding it (not sure whether the ST2555 shouldn't be hand-wound but I know that winding an A7750 isn't recommended)..

Sometimes these movements come with impurities (dust like) and are most likely not serviced.
Don't force the movement. Take it to a watch smith for service.

never managed to fix it (couldn't find a rep friendly watchsmith) :p my new golden rule for PAM's is to stick with A6497 manual wind ones to save the hassle such as these.. A pity though I loved my 351 :/

Don't know what the problem is in this specific case, but I hate the way 7750s come unlubricated with rotors that whirr and rattle a lot. Seizing issues do not surprise me. The first thing I do with a 7750 when I get a watch with one is take the back off, unscrew the little cap on the rotor bearing and put a little Microgliss D5 round it. This is thicker than the oil recommended for this part by Valjoux for gen 7750s, but I take the view that Chinese ballraces will probably have a little more slop than Swiss ones.:nerd: Of course if the crown is also very stiff, then the problem could be elsewhere.

If the winding is getting tight, its most likely a mainspring issue. Either way, I would suggest buying a new movement and paying someone to swap. They're not worth servicing as a new one is about $60 shipped.

It's hard to get them. I had to order a cheap replica from ali to get a st2555 movement.

Not at all. Ofrei sells then under the model ty2555. They are definitely the exact same because I have purchased them.

Mail from Ofrei:

The Chinese Made Watch Movement TY2555 (MT-TY2555) is out of stock and on order. Our supplier has back ordered this item to us since 5/11/2015, unsure as to when more will arrive.
