Hi all,

I've been lurking around doing some research before venturing into my first rep purchase. It didn't take me long to learn at least a couple of fundamentals.
1. Always use a TD
2. Don't use google to find them
3. Don't risk paying by CC
4. don't have silly expectations as to quality or speed of delivery

My biggest issues are most TD's don't have a website either none at all or if they do it's rubbish. The only decent websites I've found are Trusty time and C time.
Although the search facilities are poor.

My problem being I have skinny little wrists and really need a 36mm dial. I have found a couple. I've ordered a PP Nautilus Blue from Andrew @ Trusty.

I've been searching for a Jaeger Lecoultre Ultra thin Moonphase in 36mm, but with no luck so far. I've PM'd a few dealers, but so far none have replied.

I did dip my toe first by getting a cheapo Rolex Cellini from Jason007. Not arrived yet, but he posted within 48 hours and sent me tracking, so looks good so far. At the end of the day it was only $100 so no big deal if it was wasted.

Thanks for taking the time to read if you got this far

Ian

Puretime has a decent website where you can see pictures of offerings. But never rely on the websites for availability. You have to ask the TD to confirm hat the watch is available.

I wouldn't waste my time on those "Jason" watches as they are garbage. You'll soon see.

Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

Seems like you did a fair bit of research and you may not need the below. Still, it's in the welcome package, so...
Jtime has better filter options (size, colour, factory, material...), and on theonewatches site you can at least filter by factory. But as @TESLA760 already mentioned, pm'ing a TD may be your best option in many cases.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. If you laugh at jokes, you'll make friends faster.

This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

Enjoy the forum.

99% of the TDs have a website and keep them up to date with new models but dont delete nonavailable models. It would just be to much work or even is impossible to be uptodate with every factory, every model, stock there and so on since they are mostly resellers.
When you know the reference number of a model, or a name, the search option is perfect.
I dont see why you come here and spread misinformation about a lot of topics.

About PMing dealers: Every delaer has a subsection where you can read how to contact him. and no one writes "RWI forum PM" there ;)

Well, thank you what a lovely warm welcome.

In response, I've just done a full check of every trusted dealer. There are 25 dealers in total, of which 11 have no obvious website shown in their details. I'm not great at maths but I'm pretty sure 14 out of 25 isn't 99%.

Websites are mostly just for looking around and searching but you'll quickly find that dealer websites are often inaccurate and have varying levels of quality. Mostly use them to browse around but you need to email/message dealers to find if it's actually in stock or not.

Wow, you didn't have to be so snarky to a well established member who is trying to help you. @derjenigewelcher may have been exaggerating the 99% and being a little sarcastic but 56% of the TD's have websites and that should give you a good idea of what the watch looks like.

You have had three members and one TD mention to reach out with what watch you are looking for and the TD will respond whether it's available. How you proceed from there is up to you.
