WOW! I have never seen one before ever, except in pictures here. I thought the dial would be so much bigger because of all the pictures but it is very very nice. I think it is one of the most beautiful watches I have ever seen.
It's funny because when I just signed up for this forum just last year, I remember starting a thread asking about watches and people recommended Panerai, and I thought to myself "That i the ugliest watch on the PLANET," and could not understand why people bother with these things at all.

So the watch: It is a Swiss 001 and I will have the mods done to it. But I have some questions for you guys.

First of all, the seconds hand does not sweep as smoothly as on my A7750. Now I know its beat rate is smaller but what I'm noticing is that it is smooth when it moves but it looks to sorta hang every now and then. Not actually stop just slow down. Its just not one fluid motion. Is it supposed to be like that on the rep? And is it the same way on the gen?

Also when winding. Pull the lever our and wind away from you (If looking at the watch) correct? Thing is when I wind I feel the tension pushing it back. Is this normal? I just got the watch and it wasn't moving and after a couple of terms I felt this so I doubt its the resistance of a full wind, is it?

And lastly, this thing ticks pretty loud. I would say a bit louder then my A7750. Normal?

Im asking these questions because I have never had a movement like this so just want to make sure everything is in order before I go plunk down the $ on mods.
Pics will come shortly. Thanks everyone for your help.

As long as your watch keeps good time, you're good to go.

Yes, it ticks loud and proud :), yes, you're supposed to feel the tension pushing back a little (well... very little tension), and more as you fully wind the watch.

Did you manage to get the polished CG? Let me know in some more info on where you got it.
Try to get Palp crown installed, it makes a huge difference.

Congrats

Joe

Thing about the resistance is weird. It basically pushes the crown back the equivalent of 1.5 clicks for every 3-4 clicks forward. I wound it from stop and just did 4-5 or so rotatins of the crown completely which is about 10 turns with my thumb and index finger. Is this normal?
Also it ticks louder than an A7750 is it supposed to be this loud, and does the gen tick the same way?

And what about the smoothness of the seconds hand?
Lastly, there is no way to screw this crown in right? You just basically lock it in place with the lever? But I am still able to turn it when the lever is closed... Also what happens if I turn the crown towards me, it still clicks but I guess its not winding the movement, does it do any harm?

Thanks everyone for your help. I am did not get all the parts for it yet. But the watch itself was sourced from Ruby which I HIGHLY recommend.

Smoothness of second hand is a subjective thing... I think my pam is pretty smooth... it doesn't sweep 100%, but it's much smoother than quartz. I wouldn't worry about it.

Crown don't screw on this Pams - only screw-down is Radiomirs, such as 183, 190, etc.
Also, try not to wind with lever down, as it may rub the lever feet down, it may not lock down as tight as before.

Don't turn the crown towards you, it doesn't do anything - not sure it harms the movement or not, but you're not supposed to turn it in that direction, so don't do it :)

Did Ruby source you polished CG? How about the caseback? OP6518, as discussed?

Thanks Joe.

Ruby was able to source me the correct case back along with the watch. But she could not get a polished CG. She also said she couldn't just get parts but you never know. As for the CG, I am getting it from our man vaccum :)
