Hey guys! I just got my AP ROO today from Lay! I am new to the forums and this is my first buy. Everything is beautiful, quality is amazing, communication with Lay was great, however the seconds @12 seems to be choppy..what do you guys think? Here is the QC video from Lay, let me know your opinions, is this normal? Anything I can do to fix this problem?

Choppy it is indeed! Even if you get it exchanged, sooner or later it will develop the same problem. Best thing to do is send it to domi for modification and he will work his magic!

Hello OP.
You are aware of the peculiarities of the sec@12 movement, right... right!? You didn't blow $450 without some research first I am sure :p
All is good though. Nothing wrong with the watch.

Francisco has some very very good threads that explain the issues.
Regardless, any new AP needs a service before it will give reliable time-keeping.
It due to the fine tolerances required on assembly. Francisco, Domi and maybe katt or 14060 can do the job properly for you.

Best to PM, email and go from there. But if you're going to get it serviced see if you can get a relume as well for an even better AP.

thanks for all the relpies guys. Yes I did my research and I was aware of all the peculiarities of the sec@12 movement. However, I did not expect it to be this choppy. The watch keeps great time, but that second hand is extremely choppy.

So it seems some people say that I should just send it back and some say to get it serviced. Should I send it back, get a new one from Lay, then service it? Or should I just send the one I have now to one of the above watchsmith to service it?

I have decided to keep the watch and get a eta 7750 movement. My local watchsmith is able to get me a movement. Stay tuned!!

Are you saying your local watch doctor will replace the A7750 with an ETA? That will not resolve the problem! He still needs to use some rep parts and do a lot of modds.

All my APs have gen ETA, and I always watched the transplantation.

And if he does the swapp, be prepared to give him a seconed hand, they normally brake off when he take the hands off and then the chrono hand will not set back to sero.

Man, people are quick to jump on the ETA movement bandwagon quickly! Great idea in principle, but is not easy and can run into double the price of the watch and more in some cases...

Beautiful watch, but nothing outside of the ordinary as far as I can tell for a watch with secs at 6/12. No brainer for this one would be service/graphite coating extra gears, once failure strikes, THEN consider heart transplant....

BTW - the thread title would have been so much better if only it read;

'Just got Layed... PICS INSIDE'

ha! Welcome to the forum mate :)
