After the neon releases, it's nice to see something really right. Thank you for sharing and uplifting!

Thank you gentlemen! I knew that if anyone would appreciate this one, it would be you guys!

It's been a long time since I've thought about this one... Let's see if I can remember what went into it...

Case: old 111 Noob with stubby lugs. I want to say it was an H serial? Completely reshaped and lugs drilled out.

Dial: Rolli/fgd 1 pc. brass.

Hands: fgd Pre-V.

CG: One of 10 pieces fabricated from scratch using a gen Pre-V CG for measurement specs.

Crown: One of those old Turkish crowns with double gaskets on the tube.

Movement: An old Unitas 6497 with hammer finished plates; small seconds removed. This movement was carried over from one of my first reps ever, and had been with me in a couple builds leading up to this one. Crazy when I think about it.

Straps: Have a couple of fun and interesting straps with the old Pre-V buckles. I'll have to get a pic and share tomorrow :)

I don't have many Panerai... And this one has pure sentimental value to me as it was a project collaboration with friends. I remember this one being an almost free watch, considering all the sharing and gifting of parts and such. Miss those days, but mostly miss the people that made the hobby so much fun.

Memories :)

I totally get what you mean. I built, well, a few watches but nothing beats my old 205/A build. I still remember so many messages with Rolli about getting the right lug shape and smashing 3 cases before I got them right!
It's such a pity we can't find these awesome parts anymore.

kilowattore - I can relate, 100%! It's interesting... We're in an age now where factories are releasing extremely high quality replications, complete with cloned movements that are not only reliable, but can also accept genuine parts like balance wheels and other very specific fit parts. And yet, sometimes the best parts out there are still the old ones that have kind of gone extinct.

Makes me appreciate this one even more!

I don't have a big collection of straps... And honestly, even if I did, the old Pre-V style screw bars for the straps makes things very difficult in changing these things out. I can see why they went to a single strap screw with the Coro cases :)

What a beauty R!! Those FGD dials were crazy good! It is a shame we do not get to see these anymore.

One good thing is now in stock rep form the luminor dials are so amazing, remembering the times when the bars in A’s were too low or the color of the font too white, this is a huge step forward:
