It all comes down to personal opinion.

Personally, these OMF POCs do not do it for me — the date wheel at 6 is sunken, and it is an eye sore than I cannot unsee.

I am told that the date is sunken so gears can be placed to have a working subdial at 3 on the OMFs (other makers have a fixed faux subdial).

Personally, I’d rather have a flush date wheel and a fixed subdial.

OK, so that is a no go, are there other omegas that don't have this problem, basically a problem with the chrono models?

If you would also consider non-chrono’s, check out the Planet Oceans of VSF. The difference between VSF and OMF Omegas is like night and day. I have owned the Red / black 45mm CRPO and apart from the numbers being engraved on the bezel (not gen like) it’s a beautiful watch. I also have the 42mm Seamaster pumpkin orange from VSF, again a great rep.

Here's what's going on under that dial:

The red arrows point to the native pinions on a 7750, which are at 12, 9, and 6. To get hands at 3, a whole separate bridge is added OVER the date wheel, which is what lowers it from the window. Note that on this model, the 12 pinion drives the hour hand and the 6 pinion drives the minute hand. Of course, no jewels on the shafts, so you have thin gears with no jewels, which were probably never lubricated when assembled, trying to drive two separate hands. One big reason we don't want to use the chrono function much in an A7750, especially with a 3 dial.

By the by, the biggest fault with these orange POs is the paint used in the bezel in the earlier models. The gen uses rubber here - and just recently, one of the factories has started to pull off the rubber. XF, maybe? Point being, before you buy a paint version, look for one of the more recent models with the orange rubber in the bezel. Big difference.

Thank you!
